Euro Truck Simulator 2 is an open-world truck simulator game from the house of SCS Software. As the name suggests, the game is basically a truck simulator. The players can choose a truck of their taste and context (in terms of its functionality), accept suitable orders, and close the orders by driving across the map to deliver them before the stipulated deadline. Though it sounds easy, there are a few challenges that make the game harder than it looks.
However, the developers brought a sense of realism to the game not only in the graphics department but also in the overall functioning of the logistics business. Just as the game's primary importance is the trucks, so are the drivers driving them. The game puts the drivers' morale and rest needs as a critical factor, just as a proper logistics entrepreneurial venture would need to in real life.
How To Sleep
The driver whom the player controls are designed with every human emotion, such as fatigue that could end up halting the game's progress until he is rested. The game does an excellent job of notifying the player whenever the driver is tired, and its frequency intensifies in time if the player chooses to ignore them. Players are promoted regarding the driver's fatigue through yawning sounds initially, followed by the darkening of the screen edges, which indicates the driver would really need a rest before things get critical. A prolonged ignorance of these notifications would result in the driver falling asleep midway through the journey.
This is where the "sleep," or rest feature, comes into play. The players would need to choose between either option based on the deadline of their current order while striking a balance between a successful delivery and the fatigue of the driver. Resting spaces are marked with a blue bed icon and are usually parking lots next to roads or hotels.
Upon entering these marked places, the first step would be to turn off the engines by pressing 'E'. This will initiate the resting phase of the game, where the player would need to press 'enter' to start the sleep cycle of the driver. One should be careful to watch over the time consumed in the sleep cycle, as the timelapse could run well well beyond the delivery deadline. It is wise to understand the order requirements before putting the driver to rest.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux.
