Rare's upcoming action-adventure title Everwild may make an appearance during this summer's Xbox Showcase, according to insiders. Despite development on the project starting sometime around 2014, surprisingly little is known about Everwild, though fans are starting to hold out hope that more information about the mysterious game may be revealed in just a matter of weeks.

Developed by Rare and set to be published by Xbox Game Studios, Everwild has remained a hot topic among gamers over the past decade. Initially described as a third-person action-adventure triple-A title, the game reportedly underwent a transformation sometime during its early development period, with insiders now stating that it contains no combat at all. Faith in the project dipped after Everwild's creative director left Rare in late 2020, though more recent reports are remarkably positive, with development said to be smooth. Now, it seems that the developer may be preparing to give audiences a more concrete taste of what the game entails at an upcoming event.

In a new report from Jez Corden at Windows Central, the insider claims that several of his contacts, along with Microsoft's producers, have exhibited "strong confidence" that Everwild will appear during the upcoming 2025 Xbox Showcase. The presentation will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch on June 8 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, and will likely run for between 45 minutes to an hour, providing viewers with more information about upcoming Xbox titles and new additions to Xbox Game Pass. Other games potentially appearing during the show include Contraband, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Ninja Gaiden 4, State of Decay 3, The Outer Worlds 2, and the rumored Persona 4 remake.

Insiders Have ‘Strong Confidence’ That Everwild Will Appear During the June 2025 Xbox Showcase

In February, Xbox boss Phil Spencer gave an Everwild update, confirming that steady progress was being made on the title and an update would be on the way relatively soon. Additionally, to celebrate the 2024 holiday season, Rare released a greeting card featuring Everwild art, prompting many to believe that the developers would have more news to share in the coming months. The game's cel-shaded art style and whimsical characters have already made an impact, regardless of the lack of information currently available.

Despite suffering poor reviews immediately following its release, Rare's Sea of Thieves has seen a resurgence of popularity in recent months, with the multiplayer game even being nominated for the Evolving Game award at the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards in March. By April 2024, Sea of Thieves had attracted over 40 million players, and the title's PS5 release signaled the first-ever Rare game to appear on a Sony console.
