With over 60 different classes that players can enlist into their army in Unicorn Overlord, deciding who makes the cut can be a daunting task while the rest of the characters are staying in reserve. Advanced classes make it even harder to make that choice, and while there are some clear favorites, ultimately, it comes down to play style and how players like to approach the various combat scenarios. For those seeking a quick understanding of how every class ranks against each other in Unicorn Overlord, this tier list guide will help.

Ranking All Classes in Unicorn Overlord
It all comes down to how you set up your units in the game when it comes to effectively defeating the enemy. However, there are some classes and characters that are far and above the rest in terms of utility and power. As such, consider having them as part of your fulcrum of the army since there are limited spots.
S-Tier Classes in Unicorn Overlord
- Lord/High Lord
- Cleric/Bishop
- Hoplite/Legionnaire
- Hunter/Sniper
- Elven Fencer
- Paladin
- Priestess/High Priestess
- Crusader/Valkyria
- Dreadnought
- Dark Marquess
When it comes to beating the enemy, getting your hits in early on is vital to stack the odds in your favor. The Lord/High Lord brings Initiative bonuses to the table, hits hard against infantry, and is capable of healing. The same goes for the Paladin, while the defensive work can be left to both the Dreadnought and the Hoplite/Legionnaire while ensuring good damage. The Crusader/Valkryia is also a great frontline troop, soaking up damage and overpowering enemies by ignoring their defenses completely with a flurry of attacks.
The Dark Marquess delivers powerful debuffs to the enemy as well and damages rows of enemies for good measure, and if anyone gets hurt, the Cleric/Bishop can handle the healing. The other option of the Priestess/High Priestess will also be able to deal out magic attacks. For those pesky flying enemies, look no further than the Hunter/Sniper to bring the pain, and once upgraded, they can take out several enemies at once, too. The Elven Fencer brings magical pain in addition to their prowess with swords, making them another good addition to have to deal with all sorts of foes weak to magic.
A-Tier Classes in Unicorn Overlord
- Thief/Rogue
- Arbalist/Shieldshooter
- Housecarl/Viking
- Swordfighter/Swordmaster
- Elven Archer
- Snow Ranger
- Radiant Knight/Sainted Knight
- Dark Knight/Doom Knight
- Wyvern Knight/Wyvern Master
- Gryphon Knight/Gryphon Master
- Werelion
This group brings plenty of utility to the battle, starting with the Arbalist/Shieldshooter. Proficient at attacking and providing support from the back row, their use of poison and healing capabilities are excellent in attritional fights. The Thief/Rogue is the same, able to evade attacks with ease while blinding rows of enemies to make the fight go smoother for the other heavy hitters. When it comes to finishing weakened enemies in bunches, there are no better options than the Housecarl/Viking, while the Swordfighter/Swordmaster are the best options against those with high Evasion, but both classes suffer from relatively lower defense and HP.
Both the Elven Archer and Snow Ranger work great against flying foes, with the former able to remove enemy rebuffs and the latter a counter to armored targets. For the knights, they are adept at protecting others while targeting the magic users with vengeance, and the less HP a Dark Knight/Doom Knight has, the harder they hit. As for the Gryphon Knight/Gryphon Master, they are invaluable against cavalry and lower enemy Initiative but are unfortunately weak against ranged characters. The Werelion is a force to be reckoned with, with high HP and powerful single strikes, but the relative accuracy can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing.
B-Tier Classes in Unicorn Overlord
- Sellsword/Landsknecht
- Gladiator/Berserker
- Warrior/Breaker
- Wizard/Warlock
- Witch/Sorceress
- Shaman/Druid
- Elven Sibyl
- Elven Augur
- Prince
Now, it comes down more to strategy and how players want to set up the formations when it comes to the support for the rest of the army. Sellsword/Landsknecht are great damage dealers, but should their attacks be blocked, they can often become less useful in a fight. The same applies to the Gladiators/Berserkers, who pack more defense in comparison but are more reliant on having enough PP for their actions. Warriors/Breakers can do really well against enemy armor, but against other foes their capabilities make it hard to land the killing blow.
For the magic users, they all bring various uses to the field, boasting both good magical attacks and buffs for the rest of the team. The glaring weakness is how squishy they can be, and oftentimes, it doesn't make it worthwhile to provide that added protection when the enemy can be taken care of first. The Prince class also falls into this category, which is a waste.
C-Tier Classes in Unicorn Overlord
- Fighter/Vanguard
- Soldier/Sergeant
- Werewolf
- Werefox
- Werebear
- Wereowl
- Feathersword
- Featherbow
- Featherstaff
- Feathershield
While these classes are still going to have their day in the sun, they can be overlooked when compared to the rest of the classes available in the game. The Fighter/Vanguard are good defensive options but lack the offensive capabilities of other, more specialized classes, while the Soldier/Sergeant's piercing attacks can hit entire columns but are not able to withstand sustained attacks.
As for the Werewolf, Werefox, Werebear, and Wereowl, they become even better under the cover of night, which has its uses. The opposite applies to the Feathersword, Featherbow, Featherstaff, and Feathershield classes, who get better in the day. While they fulfill certain requirements to counter specific enemies, their bonuses are not usually that significant to warrant their inclusion.
