Summary
- Saber Interactive is delisting Evil Dead: The Game from storefronts.
- The developer confirmed servers would stay online.
- Evil Dead: The Game has been removed from the Epic Games, PlayStation, and Steam storefronts, but currently remains on the Xbox Store.
Developer Saber Interactive has provided a disappointing update on the well-regarded asymmetric survival horror Evil Dead: The Game, but fans were already prepared for bad news. Evil Dead: The Game was first launched in 2022 by Saber and published by Boss Team Games, featuring co-op gameplay with PvP combat and a character roster full of returning, bloodied faces from the classic IP.
The Evil Dead horror franchise was created by Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, and the series has produced five feature films and a television series, Ash vs Evil Dead, to date. Following the aesthetic of Raimi’s classic films, Evil Dead: The Game harbored the same themes of grotesque decay and isolation rooted in an American South setting, which secured its place on the best Southern Gothic horror games list, joining The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Alone in the Dark, and Telltale’s The Walking Dead.
Evil Dead Rise Director Will Resurrect The Mummy For His Next Movie
The Mummy is getting a remake, and fans of the original '90s movie starring Brendon Fraser will want to hear all about this new/old monster.
Announced in a blog post on Steam, Saber confirmed the team had begun the process of removing Evil Dead: The Game from digital storefronts, which currently includes its removal from the Epic Games, PlayStation, and Steam storefronts. Thankfully, the developer confirmed the game’s servers would remain online for everyone who purchased the game. Evil Dead: The Game isn’t the only title being pulled from storefronts in 2025, however, since Xbox recently delisted six games from its storefront, including Outer Terror, Daggerhood, and Gravity Duck. That being said, Saber’s title remains listed on the Xbox Store at the time of writing.
Evil Dead: The Game Is Being Delisted but Servers Will Remain Online
Evil Dead: The Game fans noticed its disappearance from storefronts only a few days ago and aired their concerns on social media. Many were fearing the game was going to be axed completely and without little warning, so it would have been a relief to hear Saber was keeping the game online for frequent players. Even though fans will still be able to access the game, grief captured the player base, with many naming the title as one of the greatest asymmetric horror games to exist.
For now, 16-bit platformer RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead is keeping the IP alive in the video games sector, alongside Ash Williams' presence in Dead by Daylight, and the series continues to thrive in the cinematic scene. Lee Cronin’s 2023 standalone entry, Evil Dead Rise, was a big hit with horror fans, securing the continuation of the property’s modern phase with Evil Dead Burn, which is due to release sometime in 2026. Bruce Campbell even outlined conditions for returning to the Evil Dead franchise, as the fandom would love to see The King make a comeback with his chainsaw in hand.
