The legendary creator behind the beloved Fable franchise, Peter Molyneux, has shared his opinion on the upcoming Xbox reboot of the RPG series, Fable 4, saying that he can't wait to see what Playground Games does with the title. Founder of the now-defunct Lionhead Studios and the current head of 22cans, Molyneux announced his brand-new game, Masters of Albion, at this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live with host Geoff Keighley. The veteran developer's previous games include Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and, of course, the highly acclaimed RPG fantasy title, Fable.

On August 20, during Gamescom's presentation, Masters of Albion was excitedly shown off by Molyneux, a god game with a Fable-inspired aesthetic set in the world of Albion, the very same setting as the Fable franchise. Even though the title is set in the same world as the Fable games, Masters of Albion will be creating something entirely different, as players are able to take direct control of individuals in Oakridge, a village in Albion, using a giant hand and are also able to shift the game to a third-person viewpoint.

Fable Should Follow in Halo's Footsteps Before Its Release

The Fable franchise has had a long hiatus, and the IP should take one big lesson from the Halo franchise before the launch of its upcoming title.

Speaking about Fable with IGN, Molyneux said he cannot wait to see what Playground Games does with the cherished title and how delighted he is that the franchise is still just as relevant as ever before. Talking about what he has seen of the game's trailers so far, Molyneux said that they look great and also stated how eager he is to get stuck into Fable 4 to see how it feels and plays. "I'm fascinated to see what Playground does with Fable," said Molyneux. "I'm absolutely delighted that the franchise is continuing to grow. I mean, that makes me so proud, to be involved with the brilliant people that made Fable, and we made something that was worthy of someone as brilliant as Playground to make it." He continues. "I hope they make it their Fable and they keep the humor.

Peter Molyneux Shares Thoughts on Fable 4

The first Fable was released back in 2004 to overall favorable reviews. However, the game did succumb to some backlash from players for under-delivering as well as unfulfilled promises made by the leadership at Lionhead Studios. Thankfully, as the series moved forward, the Xbox-exclusive fantasy RPG brought unique experiences to the table for players who hadn't experienced another game like it before and who appreciated its tongue-in-cheek humorous dialogue, the repercussions of player choice, as well as its intuitive and immersive approach.

The return of the Fable franchise is certainly an exciting time, as it seems as though Playground Games has worked really hard to maintain the game's identity, going by the studio's recent trailers, even though the latest Fable 4 trailer received 11,000 dislikes. It will be interesting to see how they have kept Fable's comedic elements as well as its morality system, which is undeniably one of the main hallmarks of the franchise.
