The trailer for Fable 4 has been flooded with dislikes. The newest installment in the Fable franchise was revealed during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, where it showcased the fictional world of Albion and some notable characters.

Although there aren't any details yet on Fable 4's story, it was revealed that it will be an RPG where players could choose their own destinies. The reveal trailer showed that the game will still have its signature humor and satirical take on fairy tales. It also introduced an unnamed swordswoman, who fights mythical creatures and a giant named Dave (played by Richard Ayoade). The latter was also likened to the giant battle in God of War Ragnarok.

Amid the excitement for Fable 4, the trailer seemed to be getting thousands of dislikes on YouTube. As noted by The Gamer, it's one of the most disliked videos from the Xbox Games Showcase. At the time of writing, the Fable trailer uploaded on Xbox's YouTube channel has over 20,000 likes and over 12,000 dislikes. Meanwhile, IGN's upload garnered more than 11,000 dislikes against 8,000 likes. The YouTube dislikes could be checked using a Google Chrome extension or an online dislike checker.

While the YouTube comments seemed excited and optimistic about Fable 4, one of the possible reasons for the dislikes could be the heroine's appearance. It seemed like some gamers don't think the protagonist in the trailer looked conventionally attractive. One commenter said that they're hoping that Fable 4 would have character customization because they were not "staring at that all day." Others also echoed the call for character creation as a backhanded comment directed at the heroine's looks.

The negative reactions to Fable 4's swordswoman could be chalked off as misogyny at play. It's clear that some fans were probably expecting either a male character or a more feminine-looking character, and were upset with they saw in the trailer. It's similar to when Horizon fans were up in arms about Aloy's new appearance, with some even saying that she needed to wear makeup to look more appealing for them.

There could be other reasons for the Fable 4 dislikes. It could be because the fans weren't impressed with the gameplay they saw in the trailer. It's also possible that they weren't confident about the quality as they had big expectations for Fable 4. Despite these, there were still more fans who seemed eager to play the game once it comes out, either next year or in 2025.

Fable 4 is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
