Due to their ancient origins and destructive power, lost magics are some of the strongest powers in the series. With Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest’s release, the show’s power system continues to expand, and White Magic is one of the newest forms of magic introduced to the narrative. Currently, these magic types dominate Fairy Tail’s ever-evolving magic system, though this status quo is likely to continue.

7 Time Magic

A Power That Can Alter Space-Time

The ability to alter the principles of space-time is a world-breaking concept, yet Time Magic grants its user this very power. From reversing time to trapping the entire world in stasis, this form of magic has limitless applications. Several characters have varying forms of this magic, though Ultear’s Arc of Time Magic and Dimaria Yesta’s Age Seal are its strongest versions.

With Arc of Time Magic, Ultear was able to reverse the time of the entire planet, albeit at the cost of her own "time." She was also capable of aging objects or rewinding their time, essentially bringing them to their original state. Dimaria’s Time Magic held similar properties but at a much more destructive scale. With the power of the time god Chronos, Demaria could stop time itself by gritting her teeth, leaving her as the sole human with free movement at that moment.

6 Devil Slayer Magic

A Potent Magic That Exorcises Demons

Devil Slayer Magic was introduced in the series during the Tartaros arc, quickly cementing itself as one of the stronger forms of magic in Fairy Tail. This magic holds similar properties to its other Slayer counterparts, with users being able to ingest their respective elements to gain more power. There are only three users of Devil Slayer Magic in the series, but only one is currently alive in the series.

Gray Fullbuster is the sole user of Devil Slayer Magic, though the series could potentially introduce more users of this power in its 100 Years Quest sequel. As the name suggests, Devil Slayer Magic is more effective against demons from the Books Of Zeref, allowing Gray to "exorcise" these monsters with minimal effort. However, overusing this magic results in a phenomenon called "Demonization," essentially turning the user into a demon themselves.

5 God Slayer Magic

Power Of The Gods

God Slayer Magic is another ancient lost magic that has managed to resurface in today’s Earthland. This magic holds the power to slay gods, though it seems that the name of this magic is more symbolic than literal since there has never been an instance of a god being slain by humans. God Slayers can also consume their respective elements to gain more power, and there is no drawback associated with overusing this magic.

Out of the three Gold Slayers in the entire show, only two are currently active: Sabertooth’s Orga Nanagear and Lamia Scale’s Sherria Blendy. Despite their immense strength, God Slayers have suffered defeat on multiple occasions, with Orga losing to Jura and Zancrow facing defeat at the hands of Natsu. Nevertheless, God Slayers show considerable potential, though they remain inferior to their Dragon Slayer counterparts.

4 Enchantment Magic

Magic That Can Bend The Rules Of Nature

Wielded by the fearsome Irene Belseion, Enchantment or Augmentation Magic is a power capable of overruling the laws of nature itself. Mages that use this power can infuse their magic into objects and mold their shapes, attributes, and materials. Enchanters are divided into a few categories, with Irene being a High Enchanter.

At her level, Irene has the power to alter the geography and landscapes, with her spell Universe One being able to rearrange the map of the entire continent of Ishgar. This magic is akin to applying a "rule" on a person or object, one that cannot be overridden by nature itself. In theory, this power could erase magic from all mages, though there aren’t that many instances of the magic being used to nullify others’ power.

3 White Magic

Nullifies All Other Magic

Introduced in the Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest sequel, White Magic is an extremely potent magic capable of wiping out the existence of mages. As a parallel to Black Magic, White Magic can nullify and restrict the magic of others, rendering them entirely devoid of their innate powers.

Currently, only Faris holds this power in the series, who uses Whiteout Magic to steal the Water Dragon God’s powers. She was also able to defeat the entire Fairy Tail guild in mere seconds, showcasing the potential of this power. While the true extent of White Magic currently remains unknown, the few instances of its usage present it as near-equal to the Black Arts.

2 Black Magic

A Forbidden Magic Originating From A Curse

While Black Magic comes in many forms, its most potent version is in the hands of the Dark Wizard Zeref. The Black Arts have been deemed a forbidden magic, as its usage often results in calamity and catastrophe. Also known as Ankhseram’s Black Magic, this power expels a sort of miasma that corrupts and kills anything it comes into contact with.

Since Zeref was cursed with this magic, it cannot be fully mastered, leading to outbursts that have resulted in the death of any living being caught in its wake. Black Magic rarely has any counters, although White Magic has originated as one of the few powers to nullify the effects of this dark magic.

1 Dragon Slayer Magic

Magic Powerful Enough To Slay Dragons

Being the power possessed by the series’ titular character, Dragon Slayer Magic naturally takes the title of being the strongest magic type in Fairy Tail. Possessed by Dragon Slayers and Dragons themselves, this form of magic has the potential to destroy entire nations, as none can rival the unprecedented power of dragons. Unlike other stronger forms of magic, Dragon Slayer Magic can be obtained through various means. Some have been taught this magic directly by Dragons, while others have acquired this power through a magic lacrima infused in their bodies.

Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest has introduced a new form of Dragon Slayers, ones who have forcefully gained this power by eating the flesh of dragons. For now, Natsu Dragneel stands as the strongest Dragon Slayer user, though this title is currently contested by the newly introduced Dragon Gods. There are a total of five dragon gods currently in existence with Dragon Slayer Magic at their disposal, making it clear that no other form of magic can rival the inexplicable power of this ancient lost magic.
