Baldur's Gate 3 fans should be aware that there's a scam claiming to be a mobile port of the game available on the iOS App Store. Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't have a mobile port, and players should avoid any apps claiming otherwise.

Baldur's Gate 3 was a triumphant return for Larian Studios, becoming one of the most popular RPGs in recent times. While Larian won't be returning for Baldur's Gate 4, there are tons of players out there who are still delving into all the third entry has to offer, with an expansive world, incredibly in-depth stories, attention to detail, and unique routes. While some fans have hoped for a full mobile port of Baldur's Gate 3, a recent App Store listing isn't what they're looking for.

If players want to challenge themselves further, then these games provide unique gameplay mechanics for those on the hardest difficulties.

As brought to light by VideoGamer, a scam app has been discovered on the iOS App Store, claiming to be a Baldur's Gate 3 port. The listing almost looks legitimate, as it uses modified screenshots from the original game, with a fake mobile HUD overlaid on it. The app claims to be the real deal, but a careful examination reveals oddities, like there being no mention of the Dungeons and Dragons roots of the game, or any mention of Larian, the title's developer. Instead, the title is listed as "Baldurs [sic] Gate 3 - Mobile Turuk," with the developer listed as "Dmytro Turuk."

Baldur's Gate 3 Scam May Steal Data

While many players won't be fooled by the appearance of this app, unfortunately, there's one thing that may draw in curious players nonetheless: the app is free. The notion of playing a port of Baldur's Gate 3 may be too enticing to ignore for some, especially since many may think that they can simply uninstall the title if it turns out to be fake. Upon booting it up, the app reveals that players need to subscribe to play, with a whopping $29.99 fee for a month of playtime. At this point, most will realize it's bogus, but unfortunately, the app may have already done some damage, as the terms of service indicate that the app will record the user's IP address, and potentially other information, as well. It's notably not the first time a Baldur's Gate 3 rip-off has appeared on an app store, and may not be the last.

At this time, it doesn't appear that this app or anything similar to it is available on the Android store. Regardless, gamers on either platform should be mindful that if an app sounds too good to be true, it may very well be. Larian hasn't shared any plans to release a mobile port, though for those who are interested, some of the earlier entries in the series are actually available, including Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2. Baldur's Gate 3 can also be streamed via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Anyone who may have downloaded the so-called Baldur's Gate 3 mobile app should uninstall it immediately.
