Those who have played or are at least aware of any entry in the Assassin's Creed series of games will see that it has become one of Ubisoft's most successful franchises. It seems, though, that Ubisoft is planning on taking the series in a new direction with its upcoming project, Invictus. Of all the Assassin's Creed games, this one differs by focusing on the multiplayer aspect, with rumors of its gameplay taking inspiration from Fall Guys.

Although no exact details are released about the project codenamed Invictus, there is some speculation that it will play very differently from other Assassin's Creed entries. Though there is an appeal to Fall Guys' type of gameplay, perhaps the project would also benefit by taking inspiration from another popular multiplayer, Among Us. Assassin's Creed and Among Us share the same focus on the element of secrecy, making it reasonable for Invictus to adopt certain aspects of Mediatonic's successful title.

Which Assassin's Creed Game Had The Best Story?

This might just be a personal bias of mine, but I think Assassin's Creed 2 had the best story in the series. Ezio's transformation from a rambunctious troublemaker into the grandmaster of the Assassin order was quite the ride, and it spawned two direct sequels that saw gamers following Ezio all the way to his retirement.

What Assassin’s Creed Can Do by Taking Inspiration From Among Us

The gameplay of Fall Guys could help show what Assassin's Creed Invictus' multiplayer needs to succeed, but Among Us might be just as good, if not better, as a basis for inspiration. Considering the shared similarities of hiding in plain sight and eliminating targets, it's possible to open up gameplay opportunities such as:

  • A round that involves players being split into teams and completing stealth-related tasks, but also given the ability to kill one another with the risk of getting caught by guard-like NPCs and being instantly eliminated
  • A communication-only voting elimination round wherein players are assigned the roles of Templars and Assassins, with the latter trying to uncover and eliminate the former all while everyone is unaware of each other's identities
  • A round that involves all players assassinating a heavily guarded target, but with the option to pin the blame on and eliminate a select number of people if all happen to be apprehended before completing the task

Such ways for Assassin's Creed Invictus to draw inspiration from Among Us could help the game become a highly successful multiplayer title.

How Taking Inspiration From Among Us Could Introduce a New Mode for Assassin’s Creed Invictus

Assassin's Creed Invictus' rumored Fall Guys style of gameplay would certainly be an interesting choice for a multiplayer title involving assassins, but so too would be Among Us. If Ubisoft sees the potential of how well the Among Us playstyle would work in its codenamed project, then perhaps the developer could consider giving it its own mode if anything.

Doing so might allow players to choose whether they would like to play a frantic party royale or a suspenseful social deception game, ensuring that there's more than one way to enjoy their experience with the game. Assassin's Creed Invictus may not be what players expect, especially with it potentially having Fall Guys-like gameplay, but its focus on multiplayer allows it to take opportunities previous entries couldn't.
