A brand-new mod for Fallout 4 gives players the chance to play an unofficial remake of the original game in the series, bringing the classic title into the modern era for the first time. Although this particular Fallout 4 mod isn't in its finished state just yet, players can still give it a try as a taster for its upcoming full release.

The Fallout 4 modding scene is in a great place right now. More creators than ever are trying their hand at bringing new content to Bethesda's 2015 RPG, which has allowed the game's community to thrive over the last few years. A resurgence in interest in the franchise thanks to the Fallout TV show helps, too. The recent release of Fallout: London is perhaps the highest-profile mod ever launched for the game, and it's great to see how excited gamers have been to revisit the title as a result.

The mod is titled "Fallout: Vault 13" and can be found on Nexus Mods. This particular mod comes from a team of dedicated modders, and aims to recreate all of the original Fallout in Fallout 4's game engine. The first game is among the best isometric open-world games of all time, but this mod turns it into a modern first-person experience, just like Fallout 4. Some will love this, and some will hate it, but it's definitely a unique way to experience the game. Although the mod can now be downloaded from Nexus Mods, it isn't quite finished yet. The download right now is simply a demo, giving players access to a section titled "The Inyo," featuring areas such as Vault 13 and Shady Sands.

Fallout 4 Mod Remakes Original Game

This demo does come with a few disclaimers about content that will change in the final version. Right now, the "Fallout: Vault 13" demo does not feature voice actors, although this is planned for later. Skills also do not automatically adjust when SPECIAL stats change due to a known bug, but this will be solved on launch. Perhaps most importantly of all, the demo for this Fallout 4 mod only features one area, while the full release will have five.

Many mods of this scale often fall victim to their own ambition. It can be difficult to band together a team of volunteers for a project of this scale, and they often take many years to complete. Plenty of mods like this never even see the light of day. There are definitely some amazing Fallout 4 total conversion mods, but it's often surprising to see them make it to launch. The fact that "Fallout: Vault 13" already has a demo is a very positive sign that good progress is being made in this instance, so hopefully, it can continue this positive trajectory all the way to a full release.
