Rather than speedrunning the main plot of Fallout 4, here are a few cool things players can do outside of the main quest.
Fallout 4: Where To Recruit Codsworth
The First Companion Option in Fallout 4:
You can get Codsworth as a companion at the very beginning of the game. You can do this by completing the second story quest, called “Out of Time.” After you leave Vault 111, where you appear at the beginning of the game, head to your old home in Sanctuary Hills. Here, you will see Codsworth patiently waiting nearby. Speak to him, and he will express his concern about your absence and inquire about the state of affairs in the Commonwealth. Then, keep talking to him until the “Come with me” dialog option appears. Say it, and the robot will become your constant companion.
By getting Codsworth as a companion, you will not only have a robot that knows your name but also a loyal friend with high moral principles. It won't just follow you around and repeat your name; Codsworth will be an extremely useful, indispensable buddy that will help you in both adventure and combat.
Codsworth favors melee combat in fights, using a handy flamethrower and circular saw. He can effectively distract enemies and damage them, giving you breathing space or a tactical advantage. However, don't rely solely on the robot during combat. While Codsworth is tough enough to fight off enemies for a long time, it can be costly to repair if it takes heavy damage.
In addition, when you talk to Codsworth occasionally, you can get purified water from him, which he produces by filtering groundwater inside his chassis or gathering condensation from the surrounding air.
