The length of quests in Fallout 4 range from surprisingly short to long and winding, and in the case of the Pull the Plug sidequest, we're looking at a five-minute plumbing job for a random and totally trustworthy stranger from the wasteland. Your goal in this quest is simple: find and repair three pipes in Thicket Excavation, but there's a catch: the entire site is flooded with irradiated water, and all the pipes are somewhere below all of that nastiness. This guide covers the location of all three pipes in Thicket Excavations in Fallout 4 so you don't have to keep dunking your head under all of that spicy water.
Fallout 4 Cheats And Console Commands
A lengthy list of console commands have been discovered so far in Fallout 4, allowing players to grow huge, slow down time, or even complete the game.
How to Repair Pipes in Fallout 4 Pull the Plug Quest
You can find the broken pipes by looking for bubbles on the surface of the floodwater. After you start the quest by talking to Sully Mathis at the camp on the outskirts of Thicket Excavations, you can immediately dive into the water to look for the bubbles leading to the pipes. We recommend scoping the place out before you jump, or just refer to our birds-eye view of the site above.
Of course, you'll need to find a way to deal with all the radiation you'll absorb by jumping into the water. The easiest way to deal with this is to just bring plenty of RadAway. If you already know where the broken pipes are, you won't need to stay in the water for long, and as a result, you'll only absorb about 60% of your max health's worth of Rads. However, RadAway is quite expensive, so consider taking some Rad-X too to increase your radiation resistance (just try not to get addicted to it).
While Power Armor suits in Fallout 4 provides bonus radiation resistance, wearing one won't protect you from radioactive water. Also, you can't swim while wearing Power Armor.
Radiation aside, diving into the water should pose little risk. The valves you need to turn to repair the broken pipes are relatively close to the surface, and you should have enough lung capacity to reach all of them without drowning.
After you repair all the pipes, head back to Sully Mathis in his camp, then interact with the circuit breaker next to the big, yellow pump. Doing so will cause a loud ruckus, stirring some slumbering Mirelurks awake. They'll attack you and Sully, so make sure you have a strong weapon to protect yourself with (or just aim for the Mirelurks' soft and squishy bits).
Once the whole thing is done, Sully will reward you with a meager 50 Caps (though you can haggle for more). However, this won't be the end of the developments in Thicket Excavations. Return to it some time in the future, and you might just find a surprise waiting for you.
