Fallout 4 is an amazing game in the Fallout franchise. In it, players will take on the role of the Sole Survivor, a Vault Dweller whose spouse was killed and whose son was kidnapped while they were stuck in their cryogenic pod in Vault 111. Once they finally wake up, the Sole Survivor explores the Wastelands of post-war Boston.

While following the game's main questline, players will have to kill a man named Kellogg, who happens to be the one who murdered their spouse and stole their son. Upon killing him and reliving his memories, they will learn that the Institute has their son, and they need to find a scientist known as Virgil. This is where the main quest, "The Glowing Sea," will start. Here's a guide to help players out.

How To Start The Glowing Sea Quest In Fallout 4

Nick outside the memory den.

In order to start this quest, players will need to kill Kellogg and explore his memories with Nick Valentine and Doctor Amari at the Memory Den in Goodneighbor. While there, the Sole Survivor enters Kellogg's memories and learns that he was sent to find a rogue scientist from The Institute named Virgil. Doctor Amari will warn the player that they will need to enter The Glowing Sea, an area of the Wasteland filled with radioactivity and extremely dangerous.

When heading to The Glowing Sea, it is recommended that players take plenty of Rad-Away and maybe even a suit of Power Armor.

Where To Find Virgil

Once players reach The Edge of the Glowing Sea, they will be pointed toward an area known as The Crater of Atom. This is where the Church of the Children of Atom is located in the game. Upon entering the area, their leader, Mother Isolde, will tell the players that they are trespassing. If they play their cards right, she will tell them exactly where to find Virgil; however, if they are rude, she will attack them.

Fallout 4 presents a richly lived-in world despite the desecration of nuclear war, but some of its most interesting scenes aren't in plain sight.

If Mother Isodel won't speak about Virgil, players can find a piece of paper nearby that shows a map to a place known as "Rocky Cave," which is where Virgil went. But players can just head to the area circle on the map above, which is located in the very southwestern corner of the game's map. This area is on the edge of the game's playing world. Once this cave is reached, Virgil will speak to the player and tell them how to infiltrate The Institute.
