The Grafton Monster in Fallout 76 is a massive creature with disproportionately large upper arms, torsos, and melted skin, setting it apart from other mutated monsters in Appalachia. These monsters were once humans mutated by an experimental FEV strain.

The Grafton Monster only appears in Fallout 76, but it is rumored they would have appeared in the canceled Fallout 3 game done by Interplay. Grafton Monsters can be hard to find due to only appearing in a limited number of locations or during events and missions, but there are a few guaranteed locations that will make it easy to find. Here are all Grafton Monster locations in Fallout 76 for spawn points and public events.

All Grafton Monster Locations in Fallout 76

Location of the Charleston Trainyard, in the Forest Region, marked on the map in Fallout 76.

As mentioned above, there are only a few places to find Grafton Monsters in Fallout 76, especially if you don't have a Fallout 1st subscription. Luckily, these locations can spawn one unless another Vault Dweller has already killed it.

Here is where to find the Grafton Monster in Fallout 76:

  • Charleston Trainyard: One will always spawn near this location. To find it, head across the red bridge and look close to the concrete wall to your left.
  • Charleston Capital Building: Look for one to spawn by the dam at this location. While you are here, head to the Charleston Herald Office if you need to farm springs.
  • Hemlock Holes: One will always spawn south of this location.
  • Toxic Dried Lakebed: One Grafton Monster will spawn at this location.
  • Whitespring Resort/Golf Club: One may spawn between these two locations, making it one of the least reliable places to find a Grafton Monster in Fallout 76.
Location of the Arktos Pharma, in the Forest Region, marked on the map in Fallout 76.

In addition to the above locations in Appalachia, you will find a Grafton Monster during the following public events:

  • Grafton Day: A Grafton Monster will appear as the final boss after you attend the parade during this event.
  • Primal Cuts: A Prime variant can spawn as the final boss during this event if it takes place in the Toxic Valley region. This event can occur in any of the six regions of Appalachia, so make sure you are in Toxic Valley to spawn a Grafton Monster.
  • Project Paradise: An Alpha variant can spawn as the final boss during this event, which takes place at the Arktos Pharma Biome Lab.
  • Queen of the Hunt: There is a one in six chance that a Grafton Monster will spawn during this event, which takes place at the Hunter's Shack in the Mire region.
  • The Ol' Weston Shuffle (quest, not event): A Grafton Monster will appear in Round 3 of this quest. Meg Groberg gives this quest, which takes place in The Crater and Watoga Civic Center.

Despite their size, giant Megatherium, referred to as Mega Sloths in Fallout 76, can be challenging to find unless you locate their spawn point.

If you can't find any Grafton monsters at the above location, you can wait for them to respawn on the same day, which you can't do to reset vendors' stock of items and caps. Typically, it will take a monster 10 minutes to respawn, leaving the area by fast-traveling to another location. After you wait for ten minutes, you can return to the area and find a Grafton Monster. In addition, if you are a Fallout 1st subscriber, you can exit your private server, join a public server, and rejoin your public server to respawn all monsters and loot.
