While becoming a Ghoul might not be something that everybody is eager to try out, there are plenty of other things to enjoy with this update. From new consumables to new locations, there's something to suit all tastes and playstyles. This article will go over some of the biggest and best changes that came with Fallout 76's latest Update.

Become A Ghoul

See The World From Another Perspective

A Ghoul Player

The ability to become a Ghoul is something that has been talked about for a long time. Now that it's here, players have access to a whole new build type. Just like all of the other builds in Fallout 76, being a Ghoul has its pros and cons. Thankfully, opting to become a Ghoul isn't necessarily a permanent decision. Players can revert back to their human ways, for a price.

Upon becoming a Ghoul, players will receive some unique abilities and plenty of unique perks. These perks help to give the player some rather interesting talents.

Level 50 Character Boost

An Atomic Shop Item That Offers A Level Boost

Instant Level 50 Atomic Shop Purchase

There are quite a few things that are locked behind a level cap. The ability to become a Ghoul is one of those things. Players need to be level 50 before they can become a Ghoul. For those who want to create a new character to explore life as a Ghoul, there is now an option for players to immediately advance to level 50 straight out of the vault.

For the cost of 1500 Atoms, players can receive an immediate boost to level 50. Since this is an Atomic Shop item, there will likely be some unhappy players due to its cost. However, as it stands, players will need to shell out the Atoms to receive the boost.

More Ammo Types Can Be Stored In Ammo Boxes

A Nice Incentive For Fallout First Members

A Fusion Core

Managing stash weight has been something that many players have struggled with since the game's launch. While the stash limit has increased over the years, it's still difficult to keep everything stored for later use. Becoming a Fallout First member gives players the ability to store all of their junk and ammo in special limitless containers. Unfortunately, Fusion Cores, Plasma Cores, and Ultracite Cores couldn't be stored in the ammo box, until now.

Players can now store any fully charged cores in their ammo box. This is a much-needed change for members who use Power Armor as Fusion Cores weigh 3 lbs when placed inside a stash box.

A New Season

Plenty Of Ghoul Themed Rewards

New Season Rewards

Season 20 is live and players can start grinding through the ranks. Most of the rewards available during this season are Ghoul-related. From a unique-looking Glowing Ghoul mask to some glowing furniture, there are some great rewards that players can grind for.

Similar to all of the previous seasons/scoreboards, players will need to complete daily and weekly challenges to rank up and earn Score. Upon earning enough score points, players will rank up and earn tickets that can then be spent on unlocking some of these new rewards.

Pistol Damage Increase

Pistols Are Now A Viable Weapon Type

Crafting A Pistol

Unfortunately, most pistols were too weak to use against some of the tougher enemies in the game. This update has changed that. Many of the pistols have been given a boost to their base damage. Not only that, but many of the pistols can now be converted into rifles, making them much more efficient in combat. Some of the weapons affected by these changes can be seen below:

  • Pipe Gun
  • Pipe Bolt-Action
  • Pipe Revolver
  • Laser Gun
  • Plasma Gun
  • Enclave Plasma Gun
  • Ultracite Laser Gun

Legendary Mod Changes

Scrap Legendary Boxes For Lots Of Modules

Scrapping A Box Mod

The Legendary Mod system has been in the game for a little while now. As players have been scrapping items, they've been unlocking crafting options and receiving box mods along the way. Box mods can be very useful. However, most players prefer to have the ability to craft specific mods whenever they like.

To help boost the chances of unlocking crafting abilities for specific mods, players can now scrap Legendary Box Mods in the hopes of learning how to craft specific mods. Upon scrapping a box mod, players will also receive some Legendary Modules. The number of modules the player will receive depends on the mod's star. The details can be seen below:

  • 1-Star: 3 Legendary Modules
  • 2-Star: 6 Legendary Modules
  • 3-Star: 12 Legendary Modules
  • 4-Star: 24 Legendary Modules

Lots Of Perk Changes

Cost Reduction And New Perks For Players To Enjoy

Inspirational Perk

Since players can now play as a Ghoul, it makes sense that there are special perks that are very beneficial for this character. However, there are also some major perk changes that will impact players who aren't interested in playing as a Ghoul. A handful of existing perks have been given an overhaul to make them more beneficial for players.

Perks such as Inspirational have been decreased from 3 points to 1. Also, instead of getting a flat percentage increase to XP, players will now get more XP based on their overall Charisma. Changes like this have been made to many existing perks. So, it's a good time for players to check out their loadout and make some adjustments.

New Locations To Explore

A Handful Of New Places To Visit

Fallout 76 New Locations

Alongside this update, Bethesda introduced a handful of new locations. In the top right corner of the map, there are five new locations. Each one has its own secrets for players to discover, people to speak to, and enemies to take down. This expansion has also created lots of new areas where players can set down their CAMP. This is good news for avid builders as the new area has some interesting and unique areas that are great for building. For those wanting to get to these locations, simply travel to the northeasternmost location and continue heading up.

Glowing Bobbleheads

A Cool Cosmetic Change

A Glowing Bobblehead

There are lots of collectors who try to obtain every item in the game. Since there are quite a few rare items, there's always something for collectors to grind for. The recent update has introduced a new line of Bobbleheads to Fallout 76. These do exactly the same as regular Bobbleheads. The only difference is that the new ones are glowing.

There will be plenty of players out there who will be grinding Raids for Mystery Bobblehead Packages in the hopes of collecting all of the Glowing Bobblehead variants.
