Fallout 76 has launched its yearly Holiday Scorched event which brings holiday festivities and unique loot to post-nuclear Appalachia. Fallout 76 players have a limited time to seek out red-suited Scorched who drop presents, and they can also craft their own gifts with wrapping paper for a chance at rare rewards.
It's well-known in the gaming community that Fallout 76 suffered from a rough launch despite the hype for a multiplayer game in the Fallout franchise. In those early days, the game was riddled with bugs, performance issues, and glitches that outnumbered the game's positive qualities. Bethesda didn't give up, however, and the studio has spent the years since Fallout 76's release pushing major updates that address the game's glaring issues while introducing important additions. Bethesda's efforts have borne fruit recently, with Fallout 76 finally developing a more positive reputation amid a growing player base. With more updates and events on the horizon, things are finally looking up for Fallout 76.
As an online live-service game, Fallout 76 tends to celebrate holidays and seasons with its own in-game events like the Fallout 76 Halloween event earlier this year. Continuing its yearly tradition, the game has just launched its Holiday Scorched event celebrating the winter holiday season. From December 20 until January 3, Santa-suited Scorched can be found throughout Appalachia and can be tracked down thanks to the sound of their sleigh bells. These special Scorched enemies drop Small Holiday Gifts, Holiday Gifts, and Large Holiday Gifts that contain holiday rewards, holiday currency, and rare taxidermy plans.
In addition to the dropped rewards, players can also craft their own handmade holiday gifts at the Tinker's Workbench. Players will need adhesive and gift wrap, and the latter can be purchased from Vendor Bots or Grahm during the event. Vendors usually only sell one of each gift wrap, so players may need to server-hop to gather a large supply of them. These gifts can then be opened for a chance to acquire holiday rewards including a power armor paint, a special Vault 51 jumpsuit, and decorations for Fallout 76's CAMPs like lamps, taxidermy displays, and rugs.
Besides seasonal holiday events, the game occasionally features interesting events like the Fallout 76 Alien Event which brought alien invaders into Appalachia. New content like The Pitt and Nuka-World are just some of the recent additions that were part of the game's 2022 roadmap, and Bethesda's 5-year plan for Fallout 76 has content up to 2025 is already planned out.
Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
