Summary

  • Bethesda released a hotfix for Fallout 76 to address bugs affecting the seasonal In Bloom event.
  • The update resolves issues with the Catalyst questline and disconnections while using the Ammo Storage Box.

Bethesda has published a new hotfix for Fallout 76 that looks to address a few major bugs within the game. The player base for Fallout 76 has steadily grown since the post-apocalyptic online RPG was first released in 2018.

Despite a rocky launch, Bethesda has continued to develop and improve Fallout 76 for players. The Microsoft-owned developers released a detailed roadmap for Fallout 76, showing which events are available to players over the next couple of months. Along with the various updates, Bethesda has also released a small but important hotfix for players.

Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 76 players across all platforms can now download the latest hotfix. This update adds additional stability to the seasonal In Bloom event that is currently taking place. The patch also fixes an issue with the Catalyst questline and addresses a disconnection issue some people faced while interacting with the Ammo Storage Box. The developers confirm that once the hotfix is installed, gamers can complete the quest by heading to Fort Atlas to trigger the Forging Trust mission.

The latest major update for Fallout 76 was on April 22, 2025, and brought several updates across the board. Players saw fixes to both C.A.M.P. And Workshops, where items were not being scrapped properly. Armor and weapons also saw improvements, including an increase in power for the Hunting Rifle. Challenge Events were refreshed into Mini Seasons, which can now be found in the Season menu. This revamp makes it easier for players to keep track of objectives and claim the rewards, rather than having to hunt down each challenge as they become available.

The patch comes at an interesting time for Fallout fans. Season 20 of Bethesda’s popular post-apocalyptic MMO recently got underway, with players finally given the chance to become a Ghoul in Fallout 76. Whether or not players choose to transform into a wasteland ghoul is up to them, but the process can be reversible if gamers want to change their characters back to their original looks.

Even though this latest update is a small hotfix, it shows Bethesda is listening to fans and is working quickly to stamp out bugs. Recently, Fallout 76 fans were invited to test a new fishing feature. This has been a long-requested mechanic for players. Although fishing didn’t appear in the April update, it seems vault dwellers will soon be able to cast their lines across the Wasteland.

Fallout 76 Patch Notes - May 6, 2025

Today's update marks the start of the new seasonal event The Big Bloom and provides some important stability improvements to support the new event.

The update also provides a fix for players who were stuck on “The Catalyst” questline and addresses instances where players were disconnected from the game while interacting with the Ammo Storage Box.

After downloading this hotfix, those who were stuck on “The Catalyst” quest will need to head to Fort Atlas and pick up the quest “Forging Trust” to proceed through the questline. We thank you all for your patience as our team investigated this issue and apologize for any inconvenience that was caused.
