The Scorched play an important part of the main questline in Fallout 76. The infestation sees players taking down various types of scorched enemies. At the top of the list are Scorchbeasts. These creatures are fast and powerful, and they can fly. They are a challenging fight for most new and mid-level players.

When first starting out in Fallout 76, players should take on these quests and complete them as soon as possible to start making use of their rewards.

Scorchbeasts can summon regular Scorched enemies, which can make them even tougher to kill. That said, there are a few ways that players can take down Scorchbeasts with relative ease. There are also a few locations that are guaranteed spawn points for Scorchbeasts. This is what this article is going to cover.

Scorchbeast Spawn Locations

There Are Lots Of Them

There are lots of locations where Scorchbeasts are almost guaranteed to be found. Mostly, these are Fissure Sites. Fissure Sites are large holes in the ground where these winged creatures come from.

It's important to be mindful of these holes. Should a player fall in, not only will they die, but they will lose all their junk that was stored in their loot bag. All of the Fissure Sites can be seen below:

  • Directly North Of The Ranger District Office
  • North Of Hopewell Cave. On The Left Side Of The Road
  • Slightly West Of Mosstown
  • Slightly Southeast Of Survey Camp Alpha
  • Between The Bounty and Lake Eloise
  • Northwest Of Miners Monument, Along The Road
  • Northwest Of Striker Row, At The Very Bottom Of The Map
  • Fissure Site Prime: Between the Glassed Cavern and Forward Station-Delta

Fissure Site Locations in Fallout 76

While each Fissure usually has at least one Scorchbeast that will pop up, there are two sites that allow players to farm more Scorchbeasts than normal. They are the Fissure Site Prime and the Fissure Site that's located Southeast of Survey Camp Alpha.

The reason why these locations are the best is because they are very close together. So, players can fast travel to one, kill the Scorchbeast, and then run to the other location to take down another Scorchbeast. Then, just repeat the process. While it's tedious, it can be a good way to farm Scorchbeasts.

Events That Spawn A Scorchbeast

There are a few events in Fallout 76 that players can attend for guaranteed Scorchbeast battles. The events that are guaranteed to spawn at least one Scorchbeast are Scorched Earth, Surface To Air, and It's A Trap.

Scorched Earth is a boss battle. It is a part of the final mission in the original main questline. To activate this event, the player will need to launch a nuke over the Fissure Site Prime. Once the nuke has been launched, The Sorchbeast Queen will emerge. She is a 3-star legendary enemy. Needless to say, this is a tough event to complete. However, when active, most players will head to this event as it is one of the events that offers some of the best rewards in the game.

When it comes to weapons in Fallout 76, Nukes are as strong as it gets. These areas are perfect for players wanting to test out their capabilities.

It's A Trap is a quick and easy one. The player will need to hit a switch on a relay tower. This will force a Scorchbeast to land and fight the player on the ground. It's a quick and easy event to complete. However, players can't trigger this event. It's an event that will happen randomly. So, it's worth keeping an eye out on the World Activity menu on the map.

The third event, Surface To Air, is the best event for farming Scorchbeasts. Much like It's A Trap, this event can't be triggered by the player. It's a random event that will pop up occasionally. To complete this event, players need to defend a missile system for several minutes. During this event, players will have to ward off hordes of Scorched and as many as 9 Scorchbeasts.

Speed Up The Killing Process

There are a few things that players can do to make killing Scorchbeasts easier and quicker. The first thing that players should do is use a ranged weapon. Melee weapons are useless on Scorchbeasts while they are flying.

One good weapon to use when trying to kill a Scorchbeast is the Cryolator. The Cryolator slows down enemies' movement speed. This also affects enemies that are in flight. When hit, a Scorchbeast will fly considerably slower for a few seconds, allowing the player to switch to a rifle and get in some extra damage.

If the player doesn't have or use the Cryolator, then that's fine. Simply kill the Scorched that are protecting the Scorchbeast. The hordes of regular Scorched will continuously spawn while the Scorchbeast is still alive. However, the Scorchbeast will land after each horde of Scorched (usually about 4–6 enemies) has been killed. While the Scorchbeast doesn't land for very long, it should be just long enough for the player to take it down.

Best Perks For Killing Scorchbeasts

Choosing The Right Perks

While Scorchbeasts tend to fly a lot, there are a couple of things that players can do to get them to land. There's a perk under the Perception category called Concentrated Fire. This perk will allow players to target specific body parts of enemies. If a Scorchbeast's wings are crippled, then it won't be able to fly, and it will be forced to fight on the ground.

There is another perk that can be very useful for taking down Scorchbeasts. That perk is Tormentor. When it's at rank 3, this luck-based perk gives players a 15% chance to cripple enemy limbs with a rifle. Using this perk alongside Concentrated Fire is a great way to cripple Scorchbeast wings quickly and easily, forcing it to land.

For causing bonus damage, it's worth having the perk Tank Killer equipped. When maxed out, this perception-based perk allows players to ignore 36% of a target's armor. Since Scorchbeasts are fairly well-armored creatures, this is a very useful perk to have.

Should players combine the perks mentioned above, then they will find it much easier to take down Scorchbeasts. In fact, with the right setup, players can take down Scorchbeasts in just a few seconds.
