The New River Gorge Bridge in Fallout 76 is massive and allows players to cross the river in the area. However, due to the nuclear disaster, most of the bridge has collapsed, making it difficult to cross and reach the other side. Though not initially apparent, there is a way you can get across.

If you're struggling to reach the bridge and get to the other side, this guide will show you exactly where you need to go. Accessing the secret area on the bridge can also reward you with some hidden treasures that you can't find anywhere else.

The Railway Rifle is one of the best guns in Fallout 76 thanks to its high damage and supreme ammo efficiency. Here's how to get one.

How to Get to New River Gorge Bridge in Fallout 76

To get started on reaching the New River Gorge Bridge, you'll want to make your way to New River Gorge Bridge - East, which can be found west of Sutton. You can use the map image above to find it. From Sutton, you can just make your way onto the top of the bridge.

Then, on the left side of the bridge, you'll notice a small path leading to a fence with an open doorway. Head through here and then down the stairs to reach the bottom section of the bridge. There will be a few feral ghoul enemies down here, so make sure to defeat them before moving on. Just behind you, you'll also notice a locked door that requires pick locking skill 2 to open. When you open this up, you'll find:

  • Carl's note - reveals where the West Bridge key is (Camden Park)
  • Vault-tec Bobblehead
  • Material scraps for crafting

How to Cross New River Gorge Bridge in Fallout 76

Now, you'll be able to cross the bridge after reaching the scaffolding underneath. You'll eventually reach a spot where you can either continue through the scaffolding, or proceed up to the top of the bridge. Up on the top, you'll find a few Bloodbug enemies, and a couple of items on top of cars, including Wonderglue, Squirrel on a Stick, and more.

In the scaffolding underneath, there will be a few more feral ghouls and some hidden items. Heading off to the side, you'll find a body with some pre-war money. Continuing along the scaffolding, you'll spot a few more enemies and some hidden items on the side, as well as a feral ghoul holding a holotape which unlocks the Request Government Air Drop side quest.

Finally, at the end of the scaffolding, there will be a door that requires the West Bridge Key to unlock. To find this item, you'll want to:

  • Head to Camden Park, found in the southwestern section of the map shown above.
  • Inside here, head towards the back by the white rollercoaster.
  • Head up the wooden stairs to reach the top, and make your way up the roller coaster tracks.
  • Heading towards the back of the tracks, you'll find a red train with a backpack at the front. The key will be in here.
  • When you enter the room back at the bridge, you'll find tons of materials, like a small amount of Caps, wrenches, scissors, a Golf Club Plan, and whole suit of Power Armor.

Finally, at the end of the scaffolding, there will be another exit on the side through a fence. You'll then have successfully reached the other side, where you can visit some nearby stops like Cow Spots Creamery, Camp Adams, Ohio River Adventures, and more.
