In Fallout 76, there are many challenges, Daily Ops, and Events to take part in. A lot of challenges in the game have vague requirements, like the kill canine challenge, making it difficult to complete them. Included in these challenges is the request to kill a mutated enemy, which many players might be unsure of what is considered a mutated enemy.

As you attempt to complete this challenge, this guide will show you exactly what you need to do to meet the requirements with ease. This will include the enemies you can defeat, and what you will get in return upon successfully completing the challenge. Here is how to find mutated enemies for challenges in Fallout 76.

Where to Find Mutated Enemies in Fallout 76

Mutated enemies only appear in certain events, and do not include regular Super Mutants, unfortunately. You will be able to find mutated enemies during:

Double Mutation Events are not always available, and occur randomly throughout the year. They will usually happen at the top of the hour, meaning they will begin immediately when a new hour begins. As for Daily Ops, these are always available and can be found on the map in the bottom left corner, under the World Activity section.

To begin a Daily Op, open the World Activity section and choose the first one at the top. When you click on it, there will be a section for Enemy Mutations, which will tell you what enemy mutations currently exist that you can take on during the Daily Op. For example, this one has the mutations Volatile and Piercing Gaze. Join the Daily Op, and once you are warped to the area, you'll start getting enemies surrounding you. They will usually have the label of their mutation next to their enemy name, such as Volatile Mutant Hound. Defeat these enemies, and you'll have successfully completed the Kill a Mutant Enemy challenge.

After you've completed a Daily Op and a Challenge, you can receive the following rewards, depending on how quickly you complete the task:

Since you'll be required to complete either a Daily Op or Double Mutation Event in order to complete this challenge, this means you'll be getting two different rewards. Daily Ops rewards are also completely dependent on how quickly you complete them, with rewards increasing greatly the faster you finish. You'll always get a good amount of Caps and XP for completing a Daily Op, however.
