Fallout 76 is a massive game in the Fallout franchise where players are able to play with each other online. The game is set in Appalachia, a large region in the United States, and the map spans the heart of Appalachia, the Virginias.

While most places in the game are in West Virginia and Virginia, players are able to go to a few other places via Expeditions. These Expeditions will allow players to see Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Here's how to unlock these Expeditions and expand the map.

What Are Expeditions?

Expeditions are a PvE (player vs. Everything) area of the game that lets players see other areas of the country. While Pittsburg, Pennsylvania (The Pitt) is an Appalachian city, Atlantic City, New Jersey isn't. So, Atlantic City is the only place players can go outside the confines of the Appalachian region. They are short quests that take around 15-20 minutes, where the player can fly into the area, help out, and leave. Once an Expedition is completed, players will obtain Stamps that can be traded with Giuseppe Della Ripa in the Whitespring Resort. Players can also receive Legendary items from completing Expeditions, depending on the difficulty of that Expedition.

How To Charge The Velitbird Ultracite Cell Battery

In order to unlock Expeditions, players will need to head to Whitespring Refuge, which is located southwest of Point Pleasant and northwest of Huntersville. This area is home to the Responders, a group of survivors who want to help people. Once at Whitespring Refuge, players will need to complete several daily quests in order to obtain 100 Ultracite Battery Cells to power up the Veltibird. Here are those quests:

  • Recipe For Success (25 Ultracite Battery Cells)
    • Help the chef of Whitespring Resort, Esme, cook a meal to help the Raiders and Settlers with the many refugees they need to feed.

  • Mutual Aid (25 Ultracite Battery Cells)
    • Donate 50 cloth, plastic, steel, or wood to the Responders.

  • Code Blue (50 Ultracite Battery Cells)
    • Help Rucker pick up some sort of equipment from a location nearby (this location changes as well as the equipment needed).

  • A Refugee's Guide (50 Ultracite Battery Cells)
    • Get a few pictures for Skippy (there are different pictures needed from different locations).

Once players have done enough quests to obtain the required 100 Ultracite Battery Cells, they will be able to take the Velitbird on the roof to one of the Expedition locations.

How To Go On Expeditions

Once the Expeditions are unlocked, players can easily access them by going to the Expedition option on the map. This is the Velitbird icon at the top of the map near the center. Once selected, players can decide where they want to go and what they want to do.
