There are lots of dangerous creatures that lurk around the ruins of post-war Appalachia. From mutated insects to glowing Deathclaws, there are many deadly beasts to hunt in Fallout 76. One type of creature that can be found pretty commonly is the Mirelurk. While they can be killed for their meat, most players only really seek out these creatures when completing certain daily and weekly challenges.

Every now and then, players will be tasked with gathering a certain amount of Mirelurk Eggs. For players who don't know much about these eggs, finding them may prove to be quite a challenge. However, they are actually very easy to come by.

Fallout 76: How to Farm Mirelurks

In Fallout 76, Mirelurks are massive, crab-like creatures that have incredibly high defenses. Here are five of the best locations to find them.

How To Collect Mirelurk Eggs

Mirelurk Egg Inspection

For the most part, if the location has Mirelurks, then there will probably be a few eggs lying around. Unfortunately, a lot of the eggs that can be found around the map will hatch a Mirelurk Spawn when approached. When an egg hatches, it doesn't count towards any 'collect Mirelurk Egg' challenges.

But, with some patience, it's possible to sift through the bad eggs to gain a few good ones. The eggs are very fragile, so it's important not to accidentally shoot or hit them. The best way to collect the eggs is to clear the location of enemies. Then, approach an egg pile and interact with an egg. If a Mirelurk Spawn hatches, just hit it with your gun, melee weapon, or fists. Don't shoot it, as you may accidentally destroy some good eggs.

Once you've dispatched the Mirelurk Spawn, head back to the remaining eggs and interact with another one. Just keep repeating this process. Typically, there are between 1 and 5 good eggs in any given pile.

Mirelurk Egg Locations in Fallout 76

Mirelurk Egg Pile

There are quite a few locations around the map where you can reliably find piles of Mirelurk Eggs. There's also a chance to be awarded a few for completing the event: Swarm Of Suitors. But the best locations to collect Mirelurk Eggs can be seen below:

  • Highland Marsh: Run directly straight from the fast travel point. On the right, there are two egg piles.
  • Ohio River Adventures: Along the shoreline near Ohio River Adventure, there are a couple of egg piles.
  • Inside Mire's Eye: Head toward the main room. There's a dead Mirelurk Queen in the center. There are several egg piles dotted throughout the room.

This is not an exhaustive list. Players can also find Mirelurk Eggs in other locations, like Grafton Dam and the Pioneer Scout Camp. However, the ones listed above are typically the best places for farming these eggs.
