Ever since the Wild Appalachia update, Scrip has become a crucial currency in Fallout 76. As a Legendary item, Scrip is a chip used to fuse Legendary Effects into weapons and armor or re-roll their current Effects. But what gives this item more value is its rarity. At best, players can earn only 500 Scrip before their daily limit is reached. The big question, therefore, is how should Fallout 76 survivors farm Scrip? This guide has the answer.

Updated June 12, 2024 by Benjamin Joe: A lot has changed in Fallout 76 over the past couple of years. New events have been added, the Scrip limit has been increased, and there's a lot more for players to do day to day. Also, due to the popularity of the Fallout TV series, lots of new players are coming to the game.

With this increase in player count, it seems like a good time to update this article with all the latest information. Initially, Scrip may seem like just another currency, but after playing the game for just a couple of hours, players quickly realize how important Scrip is in Fallout 76.

The Legendary Exchange

Legendary Exchange Machine in Fallout 76

Players can hand in legendary items at Legendary Exchange machines dotted throughout the map. There is a limit on how much Scrip a player can exchange legendary items for in a day. The limit is 500. This is refreshed every 24 hours.

Legendary Exchange machines can be found in almost every train station throughout the map. There's also one inside the Rusty Pick and the Whitespring Mall. The amount of Scrip the player will receive will depend on the item they hand in. The full Scrip value list can be seen below:

Players should try to hand in the full amount of Scrip each day, as any Scrip left in the machine at the end of a 24-hour period will be reset to 500, meaning that players will lose the chance to get any Scrip they didn't pick up the day before.

Players can get legendary items by doing any of the things listed below:

  • Buying Them From Player Vendors
  • Killing Legendary Enemies
  • Completing Quests (And Daily Quests)
  • Completing Events
  • Completing Expeditions
  • Completing Daily Ops

Complete Daily Ops

Great For Grinding Scrip

Daily Ops Rewards in Fallout 76

Daily Ops (Daily Operations) is a great way of earning XP, legendary items, Scrip, and more. Daily Ops are timed missions. If the player completes a Daily Operation within 8 minutes, then they will receive extra rare rewards. While the extra rewards can only be obtained once per day, players can complete Daily Operations as many times as they like.

Daily Ops are a great way to farm XP and collect rare crafting plans. This guide details everything you need to know about Daily Ops in Fallout 76.

The mission will change every 24 hours. But they are typically pretty easy to complete. That said, it's important to do Daily Ops as part of a team. Upon completing a Daily Op, players can receive anything from 5 Scrip up to 50 Scrip. They will also be awarded a couple of legendary items that can be handed in at Legendary Exchange machines.

Daily Quests

A Small Boost To Scrip

While players can only hand in 500 Scrip per day using the Legendary Exchange machines, completing Daily Quests will award them with extra Scrip that is completely separate from the Legendary Exchange machines.

There are lots of Daily Quests that players can complete. Depending on the quest, they can award between 4 and 8 Scrip for completing a small mission. While it's not a lot of Scrip, it all adds up.

Also, some Daily Quests like Queen of The Hunt and Play Time give players a small chance to receive a piece of rare apparel like the Tattered Field Jacket upon completion. The Daily Quests that award players the most amount of Scrip can be seen below:

  • Cop a Squatter (8 Legendary Scrip)
  • Heart of the Enemy (8 Legendary Scrip)
  • Idle Explosives (7 Legendary Scrip)
  • Play Time (7 Legendary Scrip)
  • Queen of the Hunt (7 Legendary Scrip)
  • Waste Not (7 Legendary Scrip)

It's worth noting that there are some Daily Quests that are best left alone. Quests like Someone To Talk To and Ecological Balance can be fairly time-consuming, and they don't offer particularly great rewards.

Complete Expeditions

Head To Atlantic City Or The Pitt

There is no longer a cap on how many times a player can start an expedition in a day. Because of this, it's possible to grind expeditions to earn extra Scrip, legendary items, and even some Legendary Modules. Each Legendary Module is worth 50 Scrip. They can be used to craft legendary weapons and armor pieces at workbenches.

There are several expeditions that the player can do. The most popular one is A Most Sensational Game. This Atlantic City-based mission can be completed in as little as 10 minutes, and it can be completed over and over again. Each time the player completes the expedition, they will be awarded up to 6 legendary items which can be turned in for Scrip.

There are lots of players out there who regularly grind Atlantic City expeditions. So, before starting an expedition, the player should start an expedition team as other players may join them. The more players on the team, the faster the expedition can be completed.

Double Scrip Weekends

Double The Fun

Buying Legendary Items in Fallout 76

There are lots of limited-time events in Fallout 76. Occasionally, there's an event called Scrip Surplus. As its name suggests, this allows players to turn in more Scrip than normal. Instead of only being able to turn in 500 Scrip, the player will be able to turn in 1000 Scrip each day the Scrip Surplus Weekend is live.

Scrip Surplus Weekends run from Thursdays to Sundays, meaning that it's possible to get a whopping 4000 Scrip if the player turns in the maximum amount of Scrip each day. There are several Scrip Surplus Weekends throughout the year. Players can keep up with the latest information and find all the dates for all events on Bethesda's official website.
