Gold is one of the many resources players can find while exploring the post-war ruins of Appalachia. It is a crafting component used to make things like energy weapons, serums, and various CAMP items.

Fallout 76: 11 Most Important Junk Components

Components that players acquire by breaking down junk in Fallout 76 are crucial for everything from base building to repairing weapons and armor.

While it's not as useful as components like lead and steel, gold still has its place in Fallout 76. Despite not being as useful as some other components in the game, gold can be difficult to come by. Whether the player needs to scrap gold items as part of a challenge or they need gold for crafting, finding junk items that contain gold can be a bit tricky.

Items That Contain Gold In Fallout 76

Gold Scrap

While it can be hard to come by, there are a few items that contain gold scraps. Not only that but there's an enemy type that drops gold scraps when killed: Honey Beasts.

These creatures will normally drop 2 gold scraps when they are killed. While this number may vary, more often than not, a Honey Beast will drop some gold. As for the items that can be broken down for gold scrap, they can be seen in the table below:

While these items can be found scattered throughout Appalachia, one of the easiest places to get gold in a hurry is the Whitespring Mall. There's a robot vendor called Helena. She sells an array of items that contain gold. Typically, she will sell a couple of Gold Plated Flip Lighters and Gold Pocket Watches.

Also, it's possible to buy Bulk Gold from vendors. However, this item is pretty rare, so the best place to get gold is from Helena.

To farm gold, simply purchase any gold items Helena has and then switch to another server. This should reset her inventory.

Tag Junk For Search

Instead of having to memorize all of the items that contain gold, you can simply tag gold for search in your Pip-Boy. You can highlight any type of component by going to the junk section of your Pip-Boy and selecting any components you want to find.

It's important to note that you'll need to be holding the desired resource to tag it. So, for example, if you want to tag gold for search, then you'll need to have some gold scrap in your inventory. To tag an item, follow the steps below:

  • Hold an item that contains the resource you want to tag in your inventory
  • Scroll to the junk section in your Pip-Boy
  • Press the Component View button
  • Scroll to any resource you'd like to tag and hit Tag For Search

Anytime you look at an item that contains the resource you have tagged, a small magnifying glass icon will pop up next to the junk item's name. This just makes farming specific junk items a lot easier.
