Fallout 76 has received many updates since its rocky initial release. Players flocked to the Appalachian Wasteland in the wake of the highly successful Fallout TV show and Skyline Valley update. With the new Milepost Zero update coming soon, the game is sure to keep on trucking into the nuclear apocalypse.
Fallout 76 has more survival-based mechanics than some previous games in the franchise. You must constantly keep your vault dweller nourished with food and drink. Gourd Blossoms are a food item that can be cooked in certain recipes and are sometimes necessary to complete daily challenges. This guide will show you where you can find these flowers in bulk when you need them.
Wild Gourd Blossoms
Wild Gourd Blossoms are what you need to find when harvesting Gourd Blossoms. These tangled-up vines will be very low to the ground. Be on the lookout for the bright orange flowers that are the blossoms themselves. Pick the Gourd Blossoms off the vines to harvest them just like any other plant in Fallout 76.
Eating them raw will not restore any health, and fills a small fraction of your food hunger meter. They do give your character three rads and have a small disease chance as well. The best uses for Gourd Blossoms are in the recipes for Steeped Ash Rose Tea and Steeped Gourd Blossom Tea.
When farming for plants, you should always equip the Green Thumb Perception perk card if you have it. This will double your yields when harvesting fruit and vegetables in the wasteland.
Head to Sugarmaple to find Gourd Blossoms
Sugarmaple is a mansion in the forest area to the south of Vault 76. You cannot access the inside of this building, but that's okay because what you're looking for is on the road directly to the east of it.
There will probably be a few mongrel dogs when you arrive. Dispatch them and look at the road next to the mansion. There is an old truck that crashed resting on top of the guard rail. Climb atop it to see that it was carrying a shipment of gourds. You can find 18 gourd blossoms by searching the containers on the truck and the nearby road.
Abbie's Bunker
The next best area is far to the northeast in the Mire Region. The area above Abbie's Bunker until the map sunflower contains Wild Gourd Blossoms. A hermit crab may spawn on the road, so keep clear if you're under-leveled.
The Gnarled Shallows is located directly to the east of the bunker. Check the area south of the tree for more Wild Gourd Blossoms. Angler enemies may spawn by the tree, so watch out for that. Around 30 Gourd Blossoms can be found in these areas around Annie's Bunker if you carefully scan the ground.
