Fallout 76 has received a new influx of players after the release of the Fallout TV show. Players who are experiencing the irradiated Appalachia wasteland for the first time might need to get used to differences from the mainline series. Even returning Vault Dwellers are sure to be surprised by all the new content that has been added after years of updates.
Expeditions were added later on, and these are the most enticing features for players, both old and new. On these Expeditions, you can leave the country roads of West Virginia for new locations in The Pitt and Atlantic City. Missions in these areas will reward you with unique loot and encounters with new creatures. Unfortunately, you can't immediately jump into these expeditions. Accessing the Vertibird on the map screen will instead tell you to find the Whitespring Refuge and make contact with the Responders. This guide will show you where the Whitespring Refuge is and how to gain access to Expeditions.
Whitespring Refuge Location
The Whitespring Refuge will not be marked on the map at first. The easiest way to pick up the required quest is by visiting one of the many train stations throughout Appalachia.
The Morgantown Station is directly to the east of Vault 76 and the early main story quests will lead you there. Train stations act as a small reprieve from the wasteland. They will have a robot vendor and a few posters on the walls. Reading these posters will give you certain quests. Find and interact with any Responder poster to receive the Responders Reborn quest.
This will give you the marker on your map. The Whitespring Refuge is to the southeast of Vault 76. You will have to head south and then around the mountain ridge to reach it. Be prepared for a fight as this may be your first encounter with Super Mutants or other nastier wasteland enemies.
Gain Access to The Vertibird
The Whitespring Refuge is a pre-war resort that's in great condition compared to everything else in the wasteland. It acts as a merchant hub for all the factions in the area. Speak to Orlando and get acquainted with the Responders. You have to complete three of their daily quests to get them to trust you.
Doing so will give you access to the Vertibird on the roof of the Whitespring Resort and allow you to travel to The Pitt. Speak to Jeremiah Hopkins in the central market to get a mission in Atlantic City. You can now press the Vertibird button on the map screen to travel to these areas.
