Bethesda just held its second ever Fallout Day Broadcast on what is known in the franchise lore as Reclamation Day– when those who entered the (safe) Vaults would emerge into the wasteland after the rain of nuclear fire and resettle America. The second annual showcase streamed on October 23, and celebrated Fallout with a number of updates and announcements. This year was a particularly notable one for the franchise, and both Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas had big birthdays, turning 10 and 15 years old, respectively.
Fallout: New Vegas released on October 19, 2010, while Fallout 4 dropped on November 10, 2015.
Fallout: New Vegas has been held in high regard since its release and is considered by many gamers to be the best of the modern entries. A remastered or re-release version has long been desired. With it being New Vegas' 15th anniversary, combined with the fact season 2 of Amazon's Fallout TV show is premiering later this year and will see the cast head to the iconic city, fans were crossing their fingers that this would potentially result in some big news at the Broadcast. Specifically, an official reveal of a remastered or updated version to commemorate New Vegas' milestone was hoped for. And while New Vegas was mentioned during the show, the actual announcement that followed was a major disappointment.
Fallout: New Vegas' Appearance at Fallout Day Broadcast 2025 Was a Huge Letdown
While Bethesda had previously outlined what it had planned to cover at 2025's Fallout Day Broadcast, there was still a spot of hope in that it might just have been planning something special due to it being such a big moment for Fallout: New Vegas. There was even some precedent to back this up, as just earlier this year in April, Bethesda held a similar event for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. While that project was already known to be in the works due to its existence being revealed during previous legal proceedings, it was still a welcome surprise when Oblivion Remastered was shadow-dropped during the stream. A repeat of this trick for New Vegas was then not as far as a stretch as it might have seemed.
But when it came time to focus on Fallout: New Vegas, instead of the above, there was only a brief series of clips of Obsidian developers expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to work on it and to the fans. It was a nice moment to be sure, but what Bethesda actually revealed what it would be offering for the anniversary was more than a little lackluster.
What's Included in the Fallout: New Vegas 15th Anniversary Bundle?
- Ultimate box edition of Fallout: New Vegas (PC)
- Victor statue
- Vault Boy pin
- Set of Rorschach evaluation cards
- Mojave Express patch
- NCR Recon patch
While these items are fun and neat enough taken alone, the fact that this package is all that will mark New Vegas' anniversary seems a bit of a disservice and one that certainly leaves a lot to be desired.
Any Hope for a Fallout: New Vegas Remaster is Now All But Gone After the 2025 Fallout Day Broadcast
It looks as if there were ever any hope for a Fallout: New Vegas remaster or re-release, it has now been dashed, and there are apparently no plans for one. Fans may take some solace in that there will be another event, the Fallout Fan Celebration, taking place on November 15, 2025. This unofficial showcase will be held at the real-life version of a location in New Vegas, the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, Nevada. Notably, this year, Obsidian Entertainment developers are confirmed to be attending to provide a "trip down memory lane" for the game . However, it should be kept in mind that it is even less likely that any news about a New Vegas remaster or related project will emerge from this. New Vegas' rather uninspired appearance at this year's Broadcast, especially in light of its 15th anniversary, likely then leaves a bitter taste in many fans' mouths.
