The Enclave appears throughout the Fallout series and acts as the enemy in a majority of the games. The Enclave are always found clad in their power armor, patrolling the wastelands of America. The Enclave is notoriously evil, killing off mutated inhabitants of the wastes and using their power to take territory by force.

The Enclave is featured as the main antagonist of Fallout 3, fighting against the Brotherhood of Steel for control of the former capital. During this game, the player is able to learn more about the mysterious organization and their past. Throughout the series, though, a little more of this organization's past will be revealed.

Updated May 12, 2024, by Ritwik Mitra: Modern Fallout f ans may not be aware of the Enclave and its monstrous nature. The members of this group consider themselves superior to everyone else, molding the image of post-war America as they see fit with no regard for innocent humans. The ending of the Fallout TV series shows how heinous this group is. Following the finale, it's easy to see why more fans want to know about the Enclave before the second season of this critically acclaimed show is finally released.

13 They Were Slated To Appear In A Canceled Game

Fallout Van Buren

Before Black Isle Studios was forced to shut down, plans were in motion for a third Fallout game called Fallout: Van Buren. This title would move things in a fresh and engaging direction. It's a shame that players never got to enjoy this game, even if Fallout 3 was a great entry that brought more eyes toward the series.

There's a lot of behind-the-scenes information on Van Buren that fans can dig up, including the fact that the Enclave would have played a major role as an antagonist. It would have been a treat to see the Enclave presented with such impeccable writing, but these plans evaporated before seeing the light of day.

A Great Visual Indicator Of What The Enclave Is About

Fallout 3 Enclave
Fallout 3 Enclave

Fallout 3, like the previous games in the series, places the Enclave in a major role as a protagonist once again. In fact, it makes the faction more visually distinct than any other game in the series.

The famous Enclave logo of an E surrounded by stars was concocted for Fallout 3, which is pretty impressive for obvious reasons. Fallout 3 may not be the role-playing masterpiece a lot of fans wanted, but the mainstream nature of this title meant that more people found out about the Enclave through this game than any other title before it.

11 The Enclave Is Added To Fallout 4 In The Next-Gen Update

A Nice Treat For Returning Fans

Fallout 4 Echoes Of The Past Enclave Encampments

Fallout 4's next-gen update has been lambasted for not changing much and for breaking a lot of mods on PC. The uproar surrounding this patch is justified, but the shoddy technical work of this update has taken away a lot of attention from the good things this update brings to the table. One of those positive things is a new side quest focusing on the Enclave.

Echoes of the Past is a fun quest that uncovers another conspiracy concocted by the Enclave, even if it may be a minor one. Still, it lets players engage with this legendary faction, which is more than welcome for fans of the TV show who want to see how villainous this faction was firsthand.

The player can come across Enclave camps in Fallout 3 that are full of deathclaws. Something to notice, though, is that the deathclaw has a device on its head. This is being used to control the creature and have it fight for the Enclave.

Working with the Brotherhood of Steel will allow the player to take control of these deathclaws and use them as a temporary companion. Players who find these with Enclave can damage the deathclaw's head, making them attack their Enclave handlers.

When it comes to the citizens of the wastelands, the Enclave considers them to be impure. This includes humans who have not turned into super mutants or ghouls. In fact, the Enclave considered wasteland humans to be on the same level as the others.

Despite this, the Enclave will use the wastelanders as conscripted soldiers or slaves. When it comes down to it, the Enclave thinks these humans should be killed off to make way for a clean America.

The experiments in the vaults are the workings of the Pre-War Enclave. The Enclave did this to test subjects under unique circumstances, such as 1 man and 999 women to Vault 69 and releasing the inhabitants after 10 years in Vault 8. This means the Enclave had control over the vaults after the Great War.

The Enclave most likely has outposts in Chicago, as suggested by a recording found on the companion ED-E. The player can listen and hear a scientist mention how ED-E is being sent to the Enclave outposts located in Chicago.

This would be interesting, as Fallout: Tactics takes place around the area of Chicago. There could have been a few Brother of Steel and Enclave battles that ensued if the player entered the city.

The player can convince the Enclave remnants to fight for either the New California Republic or Caesar's Legion during the Battle of Hoover Dam. When seen at the dam, they will be donning the uniform of their old lives.
