Summary

  • A unique Benny-themed nutcracker delights Fallout fans with attention to detail.
  • The timing of the gift coincides with Fallout television show heading to New Vegas in 2025.
  • The nutcracker captures Benny's iconic stance from the game's opening scene.

One festive Fallout fan recently received an early holiday gift that fits both the spirit of the season and the bright lights of New Vegas — a nutcracker made to look like Benny, Mr. House's treacherous business associate. The Fallout: New Vegas-themed nutcracker has been getting a lot of attention, and for fans of the game, it's not hard to see why.

Players can't get far in New Vegas at all without running into Benny. Famously voiced by late Friends star Matthew Perry, the man in the checkered suit appears in two separate scenes during the game's opening cutscene. The first shows him lighting a cigarette on a hill overlooking the big city as a Great Khans member digs a shallow grave, while the second has him delivering a short monologue to the player character before shooting them in the head, revealing just who that grave was dug for.

Fallout Fans Can Visit a Real Bar Based on The Games, But There's a Catch

Fallout-themed drinks and decor are featured at a neat cocktail bar, but Nuka-Cola fanatics only have a few months to check it out.

That introduction might not have endeared Benny to every Fallout fan, but Reddit user ScorchedHelmet seemed delighted to show off the Benny-themed custom nutcracker bought for him by his wife. Featuring the classic Fallout villain's slicked-back hair and checkerboard suit jacket, and with a collection of poker chips and Fallout's iconic bottle caps at his feet, the nutcracker strikes a pose right out of that opening cutscene, pointing Benny's classic silver pistol straight ahead.

Custom New Vegas Benny Nutcracker Raises Holiday Cheer

Although it's not an official piece of Fallout merchandise, a lot of attention to detail has been put into this nutcracker. While the nutcracker's mouth doesn't move, as the actual opening for nuts is just above his necktie, his eyebrows are even painted in a raised position, the same way that Benny's appear just before his gun goes off for the first time in the game. Some fans have even been amused at the lackadaisical way he holds his gun, raising only his right forearm at a perfect 90-degree angle, just as the classic Fallout character does in the opening cutscene.

The timing of this holiday gift is particularly special considering what's coming in 2025. After a tease at the end of season 1, the Fallout television show is likely heading to New Vegas for its second season, as Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul pursue Lucy's father, who was last seen wandering the wasteland with the Lucky 38 casino clearly visible in the background. The events of the show occur in the year 2296, 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. Benny only seizes control of New Vegas in one of the game's possible endings, so while it's unlikely viewers will see him again, fans of the franchise are still excited to see what's become of his old home city.
