Players have discovered an entire quest in Fallout: London that seemingly references the long-running British sci-fi TV series Doctor Who. The ambitious Fallout 4 mod boasts around 200 quests, 20 factions, and 15 boroughs built from the ground up, according to its development team.
Fallout: London is a massive total conversion mod for Fallout 4 that lets players explore a post-apocalyptic version of the United Kingdom's historic capital. After its launch was delayed in April, Team FOLON, the independent group behind the project, quietly released Fallout: London on July 25, and some gamers have quickly made an interesting discovery during their adventures.
Fallout: London players have found that interacting with the old-fashioned police boxes scattered across the mod’s world starts the Unusual Call Box side quest that is likely a Doctor Who Easter egg. The blue telephone booths resemble the iconic TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) time machine featured in the series. Unusual Call Box, which also appeared in the original Fallout as a special encounter, requires players to find 15 of these police boxes, most likely referencing the 15 numbered Doctors in the Doctor Who series. After completing this quest, players can intercept a decoded message on their Atta-Boy, the Fallout: London version of the Pip-Boy.
Supposed Fallout: London Doctor Who Easter Egg
Further painting Team FOLON as a group of Doctor Who fans is the fact that the group got actors Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, who portrayed the Sixth and Seventh Doctors, respectively, to voice the two mad scientists that appeared at the start of Fallout: London. In addition to new content like weapons and collectibles, the mod also features original voice acting for all major characters, gangs, and factions. All in all, Fallout: London should provide players with around 90 hours’ worth of gameplay, according to the dev team.
Instructions on how to install Fallout: London are included on the mod's GOG page. The mod can also be played using the Steam build of Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition, but the installation process is a little more complicated. Unfortunately, the mod will not run on the Epic Games Store version of Fallout 4.
Xbox and PlayStation users will also be unable to try out Team FOLON's mod, as the group has previously gone on record to say that Fallout: London will not come to consoles. Dean Carter, Team FOLON's lead project manager, explained in a past interview that Fallout: London would be far too large to be supported on these systems.
