Fallout 76 received an unforgettable Power Armor Edition upon release, and one fan recently found the wearable T-51b helmet from this collector’s edition in a thrift store. The special edition set also came with a West Tek duffle bag, collectible figures, a glow-in-the-dark map, an exclusive steelcase, and bonus digital items for the Fallout 76 game.
Released in 2018, Fallout 76 is a prequel spin-off to Bethesda’s main Fallout franchise and the first multiplayer title in the series. Players are thrust into the year 2102 to control a resident of Vault 76, who ventures into the Appalachia wasteland to re-colonize and discover the origin of the open world’s deadly plague. After the success of Amazon’s live-action Fallout adaptation, fans are excited to play a Ghoul in Fallout 76’s upcoming updates, which are expected to be released in 2025.
Why Fallout 76 Is Finally Worth Playing
Fallout 76 has had some big updates since its release and now is the perfect time to finally start playing.
Posted by Canad1Andrew on Reddit, a photo of the life-sized T-51b replica helmet from Fallout 76 was uploaded to the Fallout subreddit. “I think I just found a Fallout 76 helmet at a thrift store,” exclaimed the user, and the community was eager to highlight the replica’s $99.99 price tag even though the original box for the item was missing. This thrift store discovery was a “fantastic deal” according to Fallout fans, who pointed out the collectible helmet usually sold above $300 second-hand. Furthermore, fellow players wanted to know what the price of this helmet would be equivalent to in caps (Fallout’s in-game currency) and most agreed it would be around 3,333 caps if the 2015 exchange rate still stands.
Fallout Fan Finds T-51b Power Armor Helmet in Thrift Store
Created by West Tek, the T-51b Power Armor series is the first introduced in the Fallout franchise, and the armor is tricky to obtain for beginners in Fallout 76. This model proved useful against the People’s Liberation Army and was pivotal in gaining victory during the Battle of Anchorage, thanks to its increased strength, lightweight build, and impressive speed.
Back in 2019, a handful of GameStop’s exclusive Fallout Power Armor Collectible Helmets were recalled due to mold issues causing health concerns for customers, particularly the red-painted Nuka Cola Helmets with white exterior tubing. Luckily, no issues were attached to the T-51b helmet from the Power Armor edition, meaning the lucky thrift store hunter can don the wearable helmet while conquering the wasteland.
Fallout 76 notoriously had a disastrous launch, but newcomers are still pouring out the door of Vault 76 today, with approximately 30,000 to 50,000 concurrent players across all platforms. Fallout 5 is confirmed to be in Bethesda’s pipeline, but in the meantime, Fallout 76 fans are turning their attention towards Dune Awakening as their next science-fiction epic while waiting for the next wasteland endeavor.
