Family Guy premiered in 1999, and it's still going strong and telling new stories about the adventures of the Griffin family. While some things have changed since the pilot episode, with two actors voicing the character of Meg for instance, the dark humor and sometimes inappropriate tone have never gone away. Season 23 premiered in February 2025, and viewers are still invested in the main characters who never do or say the right thing. The show was canceled once season 2 aired, and then canceled again after season 3. Thankfully, Family Guy came back, and the show is still popular today.
Family Guy was renewed for two seasons in 2023, so fans can look forward to seeing more of the Griffin family. But when does Family Guy season 23, episode 14 air, and what is the storyline?
Rick and Morty Season 8 Needs To Get Back To Basics, And that Means Remembering What Made Season 1 Great
Rick and Morty Season 1 is arguably the best of the franchise, and it's not difficult to see why.
How To Watch Family Guy Season 23, Episode 14, "Cool Hand Lois"
Fans can watch Family Guy season 23, episode 14, "Cool Hand Lois" on Thursday, May 29th, 2025 at 9 p.m. E.T. On Fox.
The official episode description reads, according to IMDb:
"Lois becomes the leader of a group of mothers who want to ban books from schools."
Lois (Alex Bornstein) is a singular character, and it's always fun when a Family Guy episode finds her in a unique situation. Season 23, episode 14 will dive into the topic of banning books, and based on the description, it sounds like Lois will enjoy the powerful feeling she gets from being in charge.
As fans know, the most unforgettable Family Guy episodes feature dark humor and satirical moments. It's a very different show from a more light-hearted animated family sitcom such as Bob's Burgers. While some Family Guy episodes have divided fans, there have been some moving moments, too, which sums up the unique experience of watching the animated sitcom. It sounds like season 23, episode 14 will have the typical grim humor the show is known for. The next episode likely won't have a happy ending like Bob's Burgers episodes often do, but fans wouldn't have it any other way.
The previous episode, season 23, episode 13, "The Fat Lotus," spoofed the beloved HBO Mike White series The White Lotus and centered around Peter and Lois's oftentimes dramatic and difficult relationship. Since the two fight so much, it's sometimes hard to remember an episode when they aren't dealing with some marriage trouble. Glenn Quagmire (Seth MacFarlane) also gets the spotlight, and fans know him as a controversial character who says inappropriate things. While the Griffin family lives in Quahog, Rhode Island. Although the episodes about Lois and Peter's marriage are of course a significant part of the series, it's also great when Lois gets her own episode.
Family Guy season 23 has featured some interesting storylines, including Meg going on a dating show and some parodies of popular TV shows such as The Bear, The Dropout, and Only Murders in the Building. The season 23 episode "Fat Gun" is a parody of the hit action movie Top Gun, although fans didn't like that episode as much as previous parodies. "Cool Hand Lois" sounds compelling and, of course, the episode title refers to the movie Cool Hand Luke, which was released in 1967.
Family Guy Celebrated Its 25th Anniversary In 2024
Family Guy turned 25 in 2024, and the cast and creator gave an interview to The Los Angeles Times about the milestone.
Alex Bornstein reflected on the show and said:
"It was sketch comedy mixed in with a sitcom and it was so dense. Each episode had so much in it, and I just knew it was special and weird and made me laugh out loud, throughout. But I had no idea it would be 25 years. None whatsoever."
Bornstein added to Seth MacFarlane, "Sorry. Not that I didn’t trust you." MacFarlane also shared his thoughts on keeping Family Guy going, which fans will want to hear. The actor, comedian, and showrunner said:
"At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy..."
He continued:
"I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, 'Eh, we don’t care about ‘Family Guy’ anymore.' But that hasn’t happened yet."
From the "Lois Is Dead" hoax on social media to Herbert, who is voiced by Mike Henry, Family Guy has featured many memorable moments and characters, and fans definitely hope for several more seasons.
