There are a lot of dangerous enemies with serious military hardware in Far Cry 4's Kyrat. While Ajay Ghale may seem like a fish out of water at the start of his adventure, he'll be taking down enemy bases and encampments like Rambo by leveling and gaining XP as fast as possible.

When Ajay joins the Golden Path, the expansive map of Kyrat is shrouded in fog, making it appear daunting to explore. However, the game offers various tools and resources that allow Ajay to level up and gain experience quickly. Here's a rundown on the best ways to level up fast in Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 4 Sabal arguing with Amita
Should You Choose Amita Or Sabal In Far Cry 4?

What are the consequences of choosing Amita or Sabal to lead the Golden Path in Far Cry 4? Here are all your options — and consequences.

Grab The Buzzer/Gyrocopter

The first Buzzer/Gyrocopter Ajay Ghale will get access to in Far Cry 4 is the one found near Khilana's Bazaar. Hike over to this area and clear out the military to unlock it as a fast travel area. Then, before unlocking any missions, walk east of the Bazaar and jump into the Buzzer to start exploring the area. You'll unlock more Buzzers at different camps by exploring more, but this is the first one you'll get your hands on.

The Buzzer is easily damaged and quite fragile, so avoid flying too close to enemies, as you will risk being shot down. Additionally, be careful where you land; it can get caught in trees, and landing on a slope may cause the Buzzer to slide on the terrain and tip over. The Buzzer is the golden ticket to travel long distances in a short space of time, giving you the chance to level up faster in Far Cry 4.

Liberate The Bell Towers

The next thing you should be doing is flying the Buzzer toward the bell towers marked on your map. This will uncover fogged areas on the map, earn more XP for Ajay, and unlock locations like villages that need liberating, Mani Wheels, and new weapons. Unlocking 17 bell towers also gives you access to the most overpowered gun in the game, the Buzzsaw.

Ajay must reach the top of the bell tower to jam the enemy radio stations and replace them with Free Radio Kyrat from the rebels instead. Bell towers also contain loot chests and propaganda posters, which Ajay can tear down or burn for additional XP.

Instead of climbing the towers and figuring out how to reach the top, you can land the Buzzer on top of the bell tower and unlock it much faster. However, you will miss the loot chests inside if you use this method.

Fly Over The Camps And Liberate Outposts

With the bell towers unlocked, new locations will be revealed on your map, like villages that need saving and Golden Path compounds. Just flying over these areas will earn you more XP, allowing Ajay to level up faster. You can also defeat the enemies in the area, unlocking a new base and fast travel location, which will provide you with more XP and a new way to get around Kyrat without traveling.

Liberate The Enemy Outposts

It's worth landing just outside the enemy outposts to liberate them and unlock more fast travel locations.

  • Use the camera to scan the area for enemies, alarms, and caged animals.
  • Free the caged animals first and let them kill as many guards as possible. In certain situations, you won't need to do anything; if there is a rhino, elephant, or tiger nearby, as they can eliminate groups of enemies for you.
  • After that, use stealth to quietly take down the remaining guards without raising the alarm, which will earn you bonus XP.

Fly Over The Question Marks

Far Cry 4 - unknown location on the map

As you're traveling around on the Buzzer, you'll notice question marks that pop up on the map. You can fly over these question marks to reveal landmarks and unlock more XP for Ajay. You don't need to land the Buzzer to get the XP (unless it's underwater); simply flying over the area will unlock more XP and ultimately more skill points for Ajay.
