There are a lot of amazing and Unique Weapons that are waiting to be discovered in Far Cry 6. However, the real stars of the show are the regular weapons in the game. This is because the open-world action shooter has a robust and deep upgrade system that’s designed to work for the player.
As a result, most of Far Cry 6's best weapons are the most flexible in terms of customization, and it may come as a surprise to many players that many of the best weapons can be obtained at rank 1 early in the game.

Thanks to customization, many of the weapons you get early in your playthrough can carry you to Far Cry 6's last story mission. Likewise, the more story missions you complete, the more weapons you'll unlock. Unique weapons are a category in Far Cry 6 that cannot be customized, but that doesn't take away from their power. There's also your melee weapon. While not nearly as flashy as the melee weapons in Far Cry 5, you'll get your use out of Far Cry 6's melee weapon when the time calls for it. Machete
Melee Weapon
- Obtained during "The Lucky One" story quest when you first land on Isla Santuario.
Unlike Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6 has only one melee weapon: the machete. When compared to the variety of Far Cry 5, most players will find it underwhelming and not worth using. After all, you can't throw shovels around Yara like you could in Hope County. However, Far Cry 6's melee weapon is used for machete kills/takedowns, one-shot kills that can be chained from one enemy to another. You can improve takedowns/melee by equipping specific gear, such as the Prisoners Wrap. Stealth kills/takedowns are incredibly vital when you're in enemy territory and want to keep a low profile. It's very easy to get swamped by the FND when infiltrating bases.
Aside from stealth takedowns and melee fighting, the machete can be used to break open most locks. While it sounds boring on paper, it's nice to have something to break locks without resorting to wasting bullets. When compared to your firearms, the machete is the most underwhelming, but it is practical and one you'll use now and again in your Far Cry 6 playthrough.
.308 Carbine

- Loot from a chest outside Gabriel Castillo Public School (Lozania).
The rank 2 308 Carbine sniper rifle doesn't start with very good stats at its base level but with four attachment modification slots and one stat-boosting mod slot.
As an early-game weapon the.308 Carbine has a lot of staying power and many players will likely find a mainstay until they upgrade to an SVD or an MBP. It can be purchased from Juans Arms dealers if the player is a rank 4 but can be purchased from a Guerrilla Garrison at rank 1.
RPG-7
☆ Rocket Launcher
- Purchased from a Guerrilla Garrison and Juan's Arms Dealers
- Loot from FND chest on the second floor of one of the buildings in the FND Tank Training Grounds (Aguias Lindas)
The biggest nuisances in Far Cry 6 are the enemy helicopters and planes. The helicopter in particular is very determined to hunt down Dani across all terrain and it's very difficult to lose them.
The RPG-7 rocket launcher is the perfect weapon for air-based enemies to this problem as it can take some helicopters down with one or two hits. It's a rank 2 weapon and can be purchased at the Juan Arms Dealers or a Guerrilla Garrison.
SVD
☆ 3 Sniper Rifle
- Purchased from Juan Arms Dealers and the Guerrilla Garrison
- Loot from the FND cache in the GDP Oil Platform's main office.
The SVD sniper rifle is often debated as being the best in the game next to the MBP.50. This is because unlike the MBP it doesn't need to reload after every shot meaning that with good aim Dani can take down enemies in quick succession.
The SVD can be purchased from Juans Arms Dealers or a Guerrilla Garrison. However, it can be purchased from a Garrison earlier than the arms dealers because Dani only needs to be ranked 2 as opposed to rank 9 at the arms dealers.
MBP.50
☆ 4 Sniper Rifle
- Purchased from the Guerilla Garrisons
- Loot from FND cache near the second explosives checkpoint during the "Paradise Lost" Mission.
The best sniper rifle in Far Cry 6 is the MBP.50. It is capable of taking enemies down with one shot when it has been upgraded with weapon modifications, whether it’s a headshot or not. It’s a powerful weapon that will help players that take the stealthy approach, but it works well on helicopters and armored vehicles, too.
To obtain the MBP.50, the player will need to obtain it from a Guerrilla Garrison. This is built at one of the three main camps in Yara. These camps are Montero Farm in Madrugada, Camp Maximas in Valle D Oro, and Patriota’s Peak in El Este. Once the Guerrilla Garrison has been built, the weapon can be purchased when Dani has reached a Rank 4.

Compound Bow

- Loot the FND chest in Verdera's church (Madrugada).
The Compound Bow is the ultimate Rambo weapon in that it works as both the perfect stealth tool and as a weapon capable of firing projectiles that can take out armored vehicles. It is modified so that it’s accurate enough to get easy headshots on enemies without making a sound or alerting hordes of soldiers to Dani’s presence.
However, when one adds in Blast Arrows, Dani can destroy powerful vehicles like helicopters and armored personnel vehicles. They are also great for blowing up Anti-Aircraft cannons, destroying propaganda, and eliminating several targets at once.
MS16 S
☆ 1 Rifle
- Purchased from Juan’s Arms Dealers
- Loot the chest in the guard tower during the "Juan of a Kind" story quest (Igla Santuario).
At Rank 1, the MS16 S and its MS16 L variant are available very early in the game and can be obtained on the first island. It’s a weapon that’s become a staple for a lot of players because of its versatility when it’s modded.
With the right scopes attached to the gun and armor-piercing rounds, the MS16 can become a very powerful weapon indeed. With a good silencer attached too, it can function very well as a 15-round medium-range sniper rifle.
SSGP-58
☆ 4 Rifle
- Purchased from Juans Arms Dealers and the Guerilla Garrisons
- Loot from FND chest in one of the eastern buildings at True Yaran Academy (Valle De Oro).
The MS16 S will serve the player well for a long time in the game, but at rank 4, the SSGP-58 assault rifle is the only upgrade one will need. With the right modifications, its accuracy makes it one of the most lethal weapons in Far Cry 6.
As its accuracy is already at a high level, attaching a compensator will improve its handling and recoil. Additionally, it’s very effective when adding Blast Rounds into the mix if one wants an effective weapon against dangerous vehicles like helicopters.
Far Cry 6: The Best Sniper Rifles
There is a good selection of sniper rifles in Far Cry 6. However, some of them are much better than others, and more worth the investment.
MP7
☆ 4 Submachine Gun

The MP7 is the best SMG in Far Cry 6 and can be purchased at the Juan’s Arms Dealers or from the vendor at a Guerilla Garrison found in one of the three main base camps in Yara. It’s a great weapon for when things get chaotic if or when the stealthy approach has failed.
The rapid-fire rate and good handling make it a must-have for dangerous shootouts. Its damage output can be increased with mods but attaching the Gut-Wrencher mod will mean that players won’t need to worry about hitting accurate shots as it increases the damage output to the body.
M9
☆ Pistol
- Purchased from Guerilla Garrisons and Juan’s Arms Dealers
- Loot from stronghold near Mogote Foothills Checkpoint (Madrugada).
It might not seem like it at first, but the M9 sidearm is one of the most versatile weapons in the game. It's one of the earliest weapons that Dani will get their hands on, and with the proper modifications, will serve the player well until the endgame.
Attach the pistol with Armor-Rounds, a silencer, and the micro-flex sight and the M9 becomes one of the deadliest stealth weapons in the game. Getting a headshot is the name of the game so attaching the Headshot Supremo will contribute to the Supremo pack charging faster.
P226
☆ Pistol (Unique)
- Complete the story mission "The Lion's Den."
The P226 is a late-game sidearm, but its customization options make it a worthy reward. You will obtain P226 at the start of "The Lion's Den" mission. You'll notice it replaces your current sidearm during "The Lion's Den", so you can swap it out with another sidearm if needed.
The P226 has a high Accuracy and Stealth. Its RPM is 410 and it has a 10 magazine. You can apply three mods and four attachment mods to the P226:

Surf & Turf
☆ 3 Rifle (Unique)
- Complete the "Crocodile Tears" Treasure Hunt quest (Madrugada).
Surf & Turf is a unique rifle that you won't get through the story mode, but rather a Treasure Hunt sidequest. You'll need to visit the Ortega Croc Farm in Aquas Lindas (Madrugada). There's a note at the booth left by a man named Luis that will mention a key to a cache. Unfortunately for Luis, he was killed by his pet crocodile, Beatriz, who also swallowed the key. Track down Beatriz at the crocodile farm (inside the nearby building where you found Luis' body), and kill it. You can then unlock Luis' room (red door), which you can reach via grapple.
The Surf & Turf has two attachment mods (Armor Piercing Rounds and ACOG Sight) and two mods (Extended Mag and High Ground). It has 133 RPM and holds 20 thanks to the extended magazine. It's High Ground mod allows it to deal more damage to enemies that are below you. One of the best things about Surf & Turf is its rounds. This will pierce through helmets and armor, making it useful against tough enemies.
One Ping Only

- Complete the story mission "The Lion's Den."
Just like the P226, you will get the One Ping Only rifle during "The Lion's Den" main quest. However, unlike P226, you can't improve One Ping Only at the workbench. Fortunately, it still manages to prove its worth - especially for the final story mission.
The One Ping Only has two Attachment Mods and two Mods. Like the Surf & Turf, its rounds are Armor Piercing Rounds. It has better Stealth, but weaker Damage and Accuracy. While it doesn't have ACOG Sight (4x mid-range), One Ping Only has an RPM of 900, making it much faster than the Surf & Turf at the cost of lower Damage.
