In FBC: Firebreak, players will be completing various jobs in hopes of containing the many anomalous objects inside the Oldest House, and in Hot Fix, it's all about keeping the building's furnace from melting everything. This is the first job players will play through in this chaotic co-op shooter, and while it's not terribly complicated, there are many things that can make quenching furnace much easier.
There are a lot of things that FBC: Firebreak doesn't tell players, and in this guide, we'll be going over all the objectives you need to do in Hot Fix, as well as some essential tips that will help you and your team complete the job as quickly and with as few deaths as possible.
FBC: Firebreak Hands-On Preview
The Best War Games gets hands-on with Remedy Entertainment's upcoming cooperative first-person shooter FBC: Firebreak.
Hot Fix Job Guide for FBC: Firebreak
The crew's job is to fix transfer fans in the Oldest House's furnace facility and keep the furnace itself from burning everything down. The objectives themselves are straightforward:
- Charge and fix generators
- Repair breaker panels
- Dump barrels of Black Rock into the furnace
Areas 1 and 2
The first two areas in Hot Fix are all about fixing generators and breaker panels. Players with Fix and Jump Kits will make repairing objectives in these areas go by much more quickly, but if you're playing solo, we strongly recommend bringing the Splash Kit. The Ejector won't fix things for you, but it will the furnace's sheer aura from burning you to a crisp.
While both areas share the same types of objectives, the second one adds an environmental hazard: the transfer fans will occasionally blow streams of extremely hot air that will burn anything standing in their way — this includes you and enemies. If you see the fans starting to spin, get out of the way, and wait for the flare to stop.
Don't forget to open the Shelters throughout the level. They act as respawn points, and they have ample amounts of supplies (and possibly Lost Assets) in them too. Map layouts in FBC: Firebreak jobs do not change.
Area 3 - Furnace Finale
In this area (which is only accessible in Clearance 3), your job is to fill up barrels with Black Rock and chuck them into the furnace. Some barrels will already be full once you arrive, and as for the rest, you need to fill them up at the filling stations near the entrance. Throw the barrels into the loading valves, charge the adjacent generator, then wait for them to glow.
There are a few things you should know when doing this part of Hot Fix:
- The furnace will flare up every time you send a Black Rock barrel into it.
- If you're ever on fire, you can ride ziplines to get rid of the Burning status (this works everywhere).
- You'll be more resistant to Burn buildup if you fully drench yourself beforehand.
- Standing out in the open will slowly build up the Burn meter on you.
Regarding the first tip: stack the filled Black Rock barrels next to the zipline connected to the furnace. This lets you and your team dump more barrels before the furnace erupts, significantly reducing the time it takes to complete the objective.
Hiss will continuously spawn while you're trying to quench the furnace, so stay on your toes. There are two Shelters below the furnace platform that can serve as good holdout spots against big waves of enemies. Don't forget the the faucets inside Shelters can heal you back up to full.
