FBC: Firebreak is continuing to see significant struggles even after a major recent update, with the new shooter struggling to meet its developer's targets for the game. The shooter set in the same universe as Remedy Entertainment's previous hit game, Control, has not gotten off to the greatest start for the Alan Wake and Max Payne creators. FBC: Firebreak saw sub-par reception from fans and critics following the game's release in June, with many criticizing the game for a lack of substantial content. Now, FBC: Firebreak's early struggles are being felt by its developer.

FBC: Firebreak recently rolled out a sizable update at the end of September, with "Breakpoint" bringing some significant changes to the game. The massive patch saw everything from a revamped "Orientation" tutorial level for new players to the "Crisis Board" mission setup and multiple new guns being added to FBC: Firebreak. Remedy also added a new customization system for players' guns, allowing fans to add multiple different modifications to their favorite weapons. However, FBC: Firebreak's Breakpoint update has reportedly not met Remedy's hopes for the patch.

FBC: Firebreak Still Struggling After Breakpoint Update

According to a recent report from Remedy Entertainment, FBC: Firebreak has failed to meet expectations after the release of the Breakpoint update. A post for investors made to the developer's website reveals that FBC: Firebreak has not met the internal sales targets set by Remedy for the shooter. CEO Tero Virtala also shared a statement about the game's struggles within the post, claiming that the developer is "recognizing a non-cash impairment" related to the game totaling at nearly 15 million Euros. Remedy Entertainment did state it intends to continue development on FBC: Firebreak, despite the game's unsuccessful launch.

FBC Firebreak team responds to negative launch feedback

FBC: Firebreak's early struggles have been emphasized by the game's dwindling player counts on many popular platforms. The Steam version of FBC: Firebreak has seen a particularly exascerbated dropoff in its player count since its June launch, with the game's 24-hour peaks barely topping 20 within just two months of its debut. The shooter did not fare much better with its release, only peaking at 1,992 concurrent players on its release day. The game is believed to have performed better on Xbox with its Game Pass inclusion, though the Xbox version has likely experienced similar declines.

FBC: Firebreak Passes Unfortunate Steam Milestone

The road to recovery for FBC: Firebreak looks to be a rocky one for Remedy Entertainment as it looks to salvage the game's failed launch. Breakpoint did see a minor boost in the game's player count, though not enough to significantly affect the game's trajectory. FBC: Firebreak continues to be featured on PS Plus as well, with fans able to try out the game through both Microsoft and Sony's subscription services. Fans of FBC: Firebreak can only hope that Remedy's continued support will help the game to eventually turn a corner.
