Gold Cup or Bust is a side quest that is unlocked early in Chapter 12 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. After players finish talking to Cid, a message will appear on the right side of the screen, confirming that more side quests are available in different regions.
Gold Cup or Bust is posted by Billy in the Corel Region, so players don't have to travel to any other region to begin the mission. This particular side quest can be infuriating, as players have to participate in a series of races and come out on top almost every single time.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: All Chapter 12 Side Quests (& How to Complete Them)

How To Start Gold Cup or Bust In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Players can start this side quest by fast traveling to the Chocobo rental farm in Costa del Sol. From there, they need to go to the Community Noticeboard and accept the job. Next, players must fast travel to the Gold Saucer, where Billy awaits them.
How To Unlock The Gold Cup In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
After you finish talking to Billy, he will tell you to register for the race. But when players go to sign up, they will notice that they won't have access to the Gold Cup. The only way to unlock the Gold Cup is by increasing their rank.
First, players need to complete two maiden races. Next, they must finish three Bronze races. This will unlock Silver races. Players need to finish four Silver races, which will take their rank to Gold, allowing them to participate in the Gold Cup.
How To Win The Gold Cup In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The Gold Cup is different from the other races. Players will have to select their Chocobo before the start of the first race, but they cannot change their ride until they have finished all three races. So, make sure that your Chocobo has good gear.
There is no shortcut to winning these races. Players should try to memorize the track patterns by racing a few times. This will ultimately help them overcome these races as they will know where to drift, dash, use special abilities, etc.
Players will get points for finishing in different places in the race. The aim is to finish first at least twice. This way, players can win the competition even if they come second in the final race.
Coming 1st in all three races will result in a unique cutscene.
Throughout the races, players will find many obstacles that they must skillfully avoid. For instance, there are cactuar gates, which open and close after a few seconds. Players must get the timing right to pass through. There are also floating bombs on the racetracks, and they can easily catch players off guard. Also, don't forget to use your Chocobo's special abilities whenever you're in a pinch.
Gold Cup or Bust Rewards

- Chocoking's Cape
- 10 Party EXP
- 6,000 EXP
