Square Enix has unveiled some features for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's upcoming PC port by way of a new trailer. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to PC almost one year after its initial release, and Square Enix seems to have packed in a hefty list of bells and whistles.
Launched in February 2024 as a PS5 exclusive, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was one of 2024's highest-rated games and a front-runner for the prestigious Game of the Year award. Since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PS5 timed exclusivity window was just three months long, PC and Xbox players began voicing a lot of demand for the game once it elapsed. While an Xbox release for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth seems quite unlikely in the near future, Square Enix did confirm last month that the game will be available on PC starting January 23, 2025.
Just a few days after revealing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's full list of PC requirements, Square Enix has outlined some exclusive features for the platform in a recent trailer. In addition to supporting up to 4K resolution and 120fps, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will offer "improved lighting" and "enhanced visuals" on PC. The exact improvements haven't been detailed, though, so players will likely have to wait until Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on PC to find out. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC port will also offer a trio of graphical presets, namely Low, Medium, and High, for players to tweak according to their hardware configurations. There will also be an option to set the number of NPCs on screen, likely to help manage CPU load.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC Features List
- Mouse and keyboard support
- DualSense controller support
- Support for up to 4K resolution and 120fps
- Improved lighting and enhanced visuals
-
Three adjustable graphical presets - High, Medium, Low
- Option to set the number of NPCs on screen
- Nvidia DLSS
As far as input methods go, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will feature mouse and keyboard support on PC. Those who prefer controllers should note that the PS5's DualSense will also be supported, complete with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Nvidia DLSS functionality will be present in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC port, but the trailer mentioned nothing about support for AMD's FSR suite of upscaling features. Therefore, players with AMD graphics cards may be at a performance disadvantage when running Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
It may have taken nearly a year, but many PC users are nonetheless excited about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's arrival on the platform. The accompanying feature set is robust as well, so it should be interesting to see how Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth commercially performs on PC. Square Enix wasn't quite blown away by Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's sales pace on PS5, and only time will tell if the company will be satisfied with the PC version's sales.
