Fields of Mistria's July update has finally arrived, and it brings delightful and charming features to the cozy game. This is Fields of Mistria's third official update since its launch in early access in August 2024. The updates have added a bounty of new features, gameplay, new ways to build relationships, story, cosmetics, and town upgrades, to the point that Fields of Mistria is a very different game from when it first launched.

Some players may want to know if Fields of Mistria is worth playing, especially as the official launch should be just around the corner, with possibly only one major update left, or even the full launch next to be released. While it may be natural for a game in early access to have a content wall within a few hours, as of the July update, Fields of Mistria has dozens of hours of content for players to experience, with some players putting in hundreds of hours into a single save.

Fields of Mistria Excels in its Dating and Relationship System

A pillar of Fields of Mistria is the community of characters who populate its setting. The town is filled with colorful and memorable characters who interact with each other and have different relationship dynamics and lives outside their relationship with the player. This goes a long way in making Mistria feel alive and like a place where people have lived for centuries, which also lends itself to Fields of Mistria's lore.

Fields of Mistria's July update introduced dating, where players can finally confess their feelings to the marriage candidates. Dating items can be found through mining, fishing, and in some shops, and players can collect photo keepsakes to commemorate their dates. All the marriage candidates can be dated, but must choose one to marry when marriage becomes available.

Building relationships with characters is an important part of cozy gaming for many players, and Fields of Mistria not only has a range of diverse and charming characters to get to know, it also excels at it. The characters are worth getting to know even in early access, and getting them all to eight hearts, the current limit, takes a while.

Fields of Mistria is currently only available on PC, but it is Steam Deck compatible.

Fields of Mistria is a True Cozy Game with Hundreds of Hours of Content

Aside from dating and relationships, Fields of Mistria includes farming, ranching, fishing, cooking, mining, museum collections, and foraging. Players can grow crops, which can be sold or used in crafting and cooking, and ranch and breed animals of increasing rarity. Greenhouses have just been added, and collecting the materials required to fully upgrade the farm and home is plenty on its own to keep players busy.

Even if the townsfolk are completely ignored, Fields of Mistria has enough content to keep players busy for dozens of hours thanks to its multiple collections, decorating their farms, and completing town upgrades to unlock more cosmetics and gameplay. Decorating, designing, and expanding the farm can take a while, but the work is rewarding and the art style lends itself to creating cute and charming homesteads.

Play Fields of Mistria at a Leisurely Pace

Aside from the many ways to play Fields of Mistria, it goes the distance in living up to its genre of cozy game. There aren't any time limits imposed on quests, relationships don't deteriorate if they're neglected, and plants don't die if they aren't watered. These small quality of life changes make Fields of Mistria a truly cozy game without any stress.

This empowers players to approach Fields of Mistria in their own way, at their own pace, without being pressured to speak to every NPC every day, or to ensure everything on the farm is in order lest they be punished by a game mechanic. While there's still more to be added to Fields of Mistria, there's more than enough content to keep players busy in a single save until the full launch, even if it is months away.
