The fact that FIFA 23 is the last title in the series to use the FIFA moniker is something of note, even if most people would argue that the gameplay has remained largely identical even if the names have changed. There are many teams with varying star ratings that players can control in Online Seasons for a fresh change of pace from the usual loop of UItimate Team, with some teams being better than others. A few of those teams have been added to this list in this update.

Best Four-Star Teams

FC Porto

Notable players: Diogo Costa (GK), Pepe (CB), Mateus Uribe (CM)

FC Porto is the team to beat in Liga Portugal along with Benfica and Sporting CP, with this team boasting a tough squad every year that challenges for silverware without fail. The team boasts young talents and established legends, with this mix of experience and youth making them a tough squad to deal with every single time.

Players can use the wealth of notable players on FC Porto to make things tough for their opposition in Online Seasons. It takes a bit of practice to get used to the squad quality of FC Porto, but players who put in the effort will be wiping out the opposition in no time.

Schalke

Schalke is one of the biggest teams in the Bundesliga, featuring a wealth of talent that makes them pretty entertaining to control. While it's true that the German league is mostly dominated by Bayern Munich, Schalke has still managed to remain fairly relevant as one of the bigger teams in the league.

The team definitely has a ton of potential, although players who aren't used to controlling weaker players may suffer in some aspects. Regardless, players who decide to give this team a chance will be surprised by how much fun they are to control despite the lack of any recognizable names.

Espanyol is one of the many mid-table teams in La Liga who can definitely bring some quality football to the mix when the situation calls for it. While their form varied quite a bit, the team can still pull off some great upsets against tougher opposition if the situation calls for it.

The team can be pretty challenging to control if players expect to control notable names with great stats, but Espanyol can still bring the heat to a game if the player knows how to control them properly. The team is pretty tough in its own right, but there are some weaknesses that players need to account for if they're serious about controlling this team.

Marseille

Notable players: Pau Lopez (GK), Nuno Tavares (LM), Matteo Guendouzi (LF)

Marseille has long been one of the better French squads and, consequently, is one of the best four-star teams in FIFA 23. They have 79 Attack with 77 Midfield and Defense, making them pretty consistent throughout the squad but most effective in attacking. They certainly don't have the best center-backs in FIFA 23, so gamers should be careful when defending.

Marseille is well suited to players who like to involve the full starting 11 and feel confident with lower-rated players who have less dribbling ability.

Everton

Notable players: Jordan Pickford (GK), Idrissa Gueye (CM), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST)

Everton has been up and down in terms of club quality over the past few years. In FIFA 23, the Merseyside club is one of the highest-rated four-star teams, making them ideal for gamers who like to play without meta teams.

Everton is very capable in attack and has fairly technical players, making them well-suited to attacking-based gamers who like to play a fast-paced game.

Ajax

Harry Kane may be in Bayern Munich now in 2024, but that shouldn't stop players from checking just how much of a cheat code this striker is in FIFA 23. Players who get the ball to the attacking half and let Tottenham's talented forwards lead the way will net a goal more often than not.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves have slowly climbed up the ladder to become one of the better clubs in the Premier League, with a combination of good ownership and recruitment helping the club out quite a bit. No one can write off Wolves, with the team fighting tooth-and-nail to win every match regardless of their own weaknesses.

They're a great club to control in FIFA 23, boasting a pretty great midfield along with some decent names in their attack. However, their defense is a bit suspect in FIFA 23, so players should really make their shots count and hold on to the ball as long as possible.

Arsenal

Notable players: William Saliba (CB), Martin Odegaard (CM), Bukayo Saka (RW)

No one expected Arsenal to mount a title charge like they have this season. Mikel Arteta has done a wonderful job of coaching the team and building up a squad that is hungry to finally fight for the league trophy after the longest time.

Arsenal's great form means that many people may be tempted to use this team in FIFA 23, and understandably so. The entire team is pretty well-rounded, meaning that players will have no shortage of options to choose from while building up an attack and defending against the opposition in the game.

Manchester United

Notable players: De Gea (GK), Lisandro Martinez (CB), Casemiro (CM)

Manchester United has, unfortunately, seen a decline in recent years, dropping to four-and-a-half stars just like they did in FIFA 21. The team has had some of FIFA 23's biggest downgrades. However, while they were an irrelevant five-star team in FIFA 22, they are now a significant four-and-a-half in FIFA 23.

With an 82 Attack, 83 Midfield, and 81 Defense, players who like to control the game with possession-based gameplay may benefit from this squad the most. With Eriksen in midfield, players can get super brave with their over-the-top through balls.

Leverkusen

Notable players: Jeremie Frimpong (RB), Moussa Diaby (RM), Florian Wirtz (CAM)

A bit of a surprise to a lot of FIFA gamers, but Leverkusen is seeing something of a resurgence. Moving up from a low four-star in FIFA 22 to a high four-and-a-half in FIFA 23, players will have fun using this much more improved squad. In fact, the club has had some of FIFA 23's highest upgrades.

The squad has 83 Attack compared to 77 Defense, so players will certainly be better-suited to Leverkusen if they tend to be more on the attacking side than the defensive. Nevertheless, Leverkusen can still hold their own if on the back foot and defending.

Juventus

Juventus is finally back in FIFA with a license. But the club has dropped to four-and-a-half-stars. The sales of star players have left Juventus in a weaker position than the team was for FIFA 22, but they're still a capable squad to use for gamers who don't want to play five-star games.
