Summary

  • Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 will allow players to exchange Clouddark Demimateria based on player feedback.
  • Players can trade Clouddark Demimateria 1 for 2, enabling purchases of high-demand items like a mount and hairstyle.
  • More adjustments may come based on feedback, impacting future raid content updates.

Final Fantasy 14 took to social media to announce that the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid reward structure will be changed in Patch 7.16 due to player feedback. Final Fantasy 14 players with excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 can exchange them for Clouddark Demimateria 2 once Patch 7.16 is released on January 21.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid challenge was introduced on December 24, one week after the launch of Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.15. This new battle pits up to 24 players against the final boss of A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness alliance raid, The Cloud of Darkness. The latest raid challenge also adds some mechanics from Shadowbringers' Eden raid series, which saw players face another version of The Cloud of Darkness. Final Fantasy 14 parties who clear the Chaotic Alliance Raid are rewarded with Clouddark Demimateria 1 and Clouddark Demimateria 2, with bonus amounts of the latter Demimateria dropping based on the number of first-time clears in the raid.

However, Final Fantasy 14 confirmed that changes to the Chaotic Alliance Raid reward structure are arriving soon. According to a social media post from Square Enix, excess amounts of Clouddark Demimateria 1 can be exchanged for Clouddark Demimateria 2 starting in Patch 7.16, which will go live on Tuesday, January 21, following a brief server maintenance period. While Square Enix did not state what the exchange rate of Clouddark Demimateria 1 to 2 would be, the change will allow more players to purchase the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, both of which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2 respectively.

Final Fantasy 14 Adding Clouddark Demimateria Exchange In Patch 7.16

  • Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 will add a Clouddark Demimateria exchange due to player feedback.
  • Clouddark Demimateria 1 can be exchanged for Clouddark Demimateria 2 at a yet-unknown rate.
  • A hairstyle and a mount can be purchased with Clouddark Demimateria 2 and sold on the market board.
  • Further changes may come based on continued player feedback.

Both the mount and the hairstyle can also be bought and sold on the market board, so the prices of both items will likely change once Patch 7.16 goes live. Square Enix said that the changes to the Clouddark Demimateria system were made based on player feedback, and stated that further changes could come in later updates. Patch 7.16 will be Final Fantasy 14's first content update in 2025, with the Dawntrail Role Quest series finale being its main feature.

Major Job balance updates are unlikely to arrive in Patch 7.16, so players must wait until Patch 7.2 to see what changes Square Enix will make. With more raid content planned throughout 2025, it remains to be seen how Final Fantasy 14 player feedback will affect them.
