Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, will launch on Tuesday, August 5. The upcoming Final Fantasy 14 content patch will be the climax of Dawntrail and will include new story content and other features like the long-awaited chat bubbles, along with extended headgear options for Viera and Hrothgar player characters.

Final Fantasy 14's 7.3 update will be released over a year after the launch of Dawntrail. As the climactic patch of the expansion, The Promise of Tomorrow will give players a glimpse into the future of Final Fantasy 14 once the main story is completed. Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida kept tight-lipped regarding the story content of Patch 7.3 to avoid spoilers. Along with the story content, Final Fantasy 14's 7.3 update will make some changes to the player blacklist feature.

During the 88th Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast on July 24, Yoshida shared a trailer for Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3. The content update goes live on Tuesday, August 5, following a period of server maintenance. Yoshida also gave players a demonstration of what to expect in the next alliance raid, San d'Oria: The Second Walk, as he faced off against the raid's first boss, the Faithbound Kirin. Yoshida also shared a look at the new Crystaline Conflict PVP map, the Bayside Battleground, along with a preview of some mounts, glamours, and minions players can earn by doing some of Patch 7.3's content. The Vault Oneiron treasure dungeon was also revealed, with a slot machine gimmick that determines the enemies and loot players will get.

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3 Goes Live August 5

Subsequent updates following Patch 7.3 will include various forms of content for players to enjoy. A new Cosmic Exploration planet and Phantom Relic weapon quests will be added in Patch 7.31. Following that, Patch 7.35 will feature the Yok Huy crafter quests, a new Hildibrand chapter, and the new deep dungeon called Pilgrim's Traverse. Yoshida said the philosophy behind Pilgrim's Traverse is a "deep dungeon for everyone" with changes that allow players to fully clear it with up to three random players via the duty finder queue system. A new "Quantum" difficulty challenge will be available after Final Fantasy 14 players clear the new deep dungeon. Like other deep dungeons before it, Pilgrim's Traverse will have procedurally-generated floors and enemies, giving players a new challenge each time.

Yoshida also confirmed that a player housing update for Final Fantasy 14 that would have allowed players to change the interior size of their homes was pushed back to a later date. Only time will tell how players will react to Dawntrail's climactic story update.
