Final Fantasy 14 updated its graphics, making many Warriors of Light look a little bit different from what players were used to. Much about their appearance can be adjusted with small changes done through the aesthetician, but some players might like to use the fresh start Dawntrail is bringing to the game to change their heroes more completely.

Currently, the only way to change anything you want about your character in the game is using the Phial of Fantasia. This item allows the player to go back to the character creation screen, meaning even race and gender can be altered this way. Except for a single Main Scenario Quest reward, this is an item players need to buy with real money in Final Fantasy 14's online store - but Dawntrail added a sidequest to the game that will give those who complete it a Phial of Fantasia for free. Here is everything you need to do to grab your free Fantasia!

Where To Get The Free Phial Of Fantasia In FF14

final fantasy 14 bottled fantasy location

The free Phial of Fantasia can be obtained through the quest "Bottled Fantasy", added to the game in patch 7.0. All that is required for the quest to be available is that the player completes the level 17 Main Scenario Quest "The Scions of the Seventh Dawn", which means even players early on in the game can get it. There are also no Free Trial restrictions, which means players who haven't bought the game yet can also get the Phial of Fantasia for free.

To start the level 1 quest "Bottled Fantasy", players must go to Ul'dah. Players can use the aethernet shard to the Adventurer's Guild and go east to get to Ul'dah - Steps of Thal, as the NPC they will need to interact with is near the border between the two areas, as shown on the map above. Alternatively, it's possible to use the aethernet to the Sapphire Avenue Exchange to be brought closer to the character.

The NPC in question will be wearing dark robes and is called Medicine Merchant (X: 13.4, Y: 9.2). Talking to him, the player will initiate the quest "Bottled Fantasy", which is really short and simple to complete. He will request that you make a delivery for him, taking one of his mysterious potions to a lalafell gladiator.

final fantasy 14 diminutive gladiator

Go back to Ul'dah - Steps of Nald to find the Diminutive Gladiator (X: 10.3, Y: 9.2). There are no aethernet shards close to him, really, so this time it's simpler to just walk. Interact with the NPC, and he will tell of his woes about being too small to be an imposing gladiator. He will explain the mysterious potion you delivered to him is, in fact, a miraculous tonic that allows any person who drinks it to wake up a new man or woman, changing anything they want about themselves.

Return to the Medicine Merchant in Ul'dah - Steps of Thal, in the same location where you picked up the quest. Hand over the payment for his product, and a cutscene will show a gladiator dressed much like the NPC you spoke to before passing by - except this time, instead of a diminutive lalafell, he will appear as an enormous roegadyn, showing the potential of Fantasia's transformations. The quest will then be completed, and you'll be given a Phial of Fantasia for free!

After using the Fantasia item, the player must remove all of their character's gear. The next time they log in, the game will offer them the chance to recustomize their character. Patch 7.0 also added that after editing a character's appearance using Fantasia, players will have 60 minutes of in-game playtime to change their appearance as many times as they want.
