Final Fantasy 14's new expansion, Dawntrail, is proving itself a big success, and it set a new record for concurrent users with the highest number since A Realm Reborn. The addition of new content always draws new and returning players, and there are many new activities to explore in Dawntrail beyond the time necessary to beat the Main Scenario Quests. There is an important additional element that many will want to complete alongside the MSQ: the role quests.

Final Fantasy 14: The Best New Characters In Dawntrail

In Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail's tale of contested successions and warring kingdoms, several fantastic new characters are introduced to the narrative.

Originally, the game used to add questlines specific to each job when a new expansion arrived. With every expansion adding new jobs, like Dawntrail added the Pictomancer and the Viper jobs, the difficulty of making several different job-specific quests was set aside in favor of role quests. The format has been adopted since Shadowbringers, and the latest expansion added its own set of role quests. Each of them follows a specific path and storyline — and here you'll learn everything you need to complete Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail healer role quests!

How To Unlock Healer Role Quests FF14 Dawntrail

ff14 uncouth customers

The requirements to access Dawntrail role quests are quite simple. All you need to do is play the Main Scenario Quests and complete level 92 MSQ "The Feat of Pots". The game will make it clear at which point you will have access to the role quests, as the character Br'uk Evu will approach you during the main quest to ask for your aid, with a following message explaining you need to seek him to unlock the role quests.

Interact with him (X: 12.4, Y: 14.6) at the bar in Xbalyav Ty'e to pick up the level 90 quest "Uncouth Costumers", marked with the blue content unlock symbol.

Br'uk Evu will tell you about a mysterious (and potentially dangerous) group of villains that appeared in the bar, and that they have been causing trouble in Tural by stealing powerful artifacts from several villages. Speak to Rral Majun near the bar for more dialogue about the situation, during which the character Raholl Ja will appear and introduce several new characters, who seek aid to recover their village's relics.

How To Complete The Quest 'In The Sting Of Things'

ff14 in the sting of things-1

For the healer role quests, you will need to approach Nyipine (X: 12.0, Y: 15.0), also in the tavern. He will initiate the level 90 quest "In the Sting of Things", telling you about the artifact he seeks to recover, the Heartsting. The soul of a scorpion tural vidraal - animals that live far longer than their natural lifespan and become incredibly powerful - was sealed in this item, allowing those who wield it to use the creature's power over toxins.

Nyipine will explain that he and the village elder's daughter, Loashkana, were trying to get their artifact back but were ambushed, and his injuries prevent him from helping more. To the relief of those who have yet to unlock flight in Dawntrail, he won't ask you to go to any of the new areas, and rather will direct you to Limsa Lominsa to find her, as that was her destination when she left to pursue the thieves, believing a suspicious number of people becoming temporarily blind is related to the item's toxins.

Not knowing exactly where Loashkana will be, Nyipine will tell you to seek the ship's captain, Bhaldbryda. Teleport to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks, then use the aethernet to go to the Arcanists' Guild. From there, head west to the docks, and you will find her at the very edge of the platform (X: 3.1, Y: 11.6), as seen on the map:

ff14 bhaldbryda

She will direct you to Loashkana. You can walk all the way or use the aethernet to Hawkers' Alley. Head south of the aethernet shard (there will be a fork splitting into two paths: take the path that will be to your right when heading there from the aethernet shard - the one that goes straight ahead instead of the wooden path going down) and she will be just a little ahead (X: 7.3, Y: 13.5).

After giving you more details about the situation, Loashkana will ask for help to investigate rumors on the market. Go back to Hawker's Alley and you will see the Zwynberk (X: 7.2, Y: 12.3), the first NPC you must speak to, right by the Company Chest. Continue straight ahead to interact with Baesyng (X: 5.9, Y: 12.2) near the Materia Melder, before heading back to where you came from and continuing straight towards the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks aetheryte. You will find Rose (X: 8.4, Y: 11.6), the final NPC you must talk to, in front of the independent jeweler's stall. Their locations can be seen on the map below:

They will direct you to look for more information with the Sunny Yellowjacket (X: 8.3, Y: 15.0). Teleport to the Fishermen's Guild to get to her, as she will be to the southeast of the guild.

After that, go to the entrance to the north and climb the stairs, then cross the wooden bridge to get to the next objective. You will find Loashkana and the Sunny Yellowjacket (X: 8.9, Y: 13.4) near an Ailing Citizen. Simply interacting with the NPC won't work: you must use Esuna to cure him of paralysis. After that, he will tell you what happened, painting a clearer picture of the two villains you will be pursuing throughout the quest. Speak to Loashkana in the same place where you will be after the cutscene to conclude the quest.

How To Complete The Quest 'Causing Problems On Purpose'

ff14 causing problems on purpose

You will immediately have access to the next step of the healer role quests: the level 92 quest "Causing Problems on Purpose". Pick it up with Loashkana (X: 8.9, Y: 13.4) in the same place as the previous quest was concluded. You will learn a lalafell man and a hyur woman matching the description of the antagonists you are looking for were seen heading to Aleport. Use the ferry or simply teleport there, then speak to Loashkana (X: 27.4, Y: 27.1) to continue the story.

To advance the investigation, you must speak to the Knowledgeable Merchant (X: 25.7, Y: 26.1), who will mention seeing a pair of potion sellers that matches the description of who you're looking for. After learning that they are dangerous, he will ask you to check on a pair of new adventurers, Wyssulm and Zerig, as they had bought potions from the two.

ff14 wyssulm zerig

As they were headed to Swiftperch, head southeast to look for the adventurers. The map will show a general area to look for them, but if you go to X: 30.8, Y: 27.8, you will find the two NPCs near the purple circle that is the goal. Fight the mammets, then interact with Wyssulm. The next step will be to cast Esuna on Zerig, which will trigger a cutscene.

The two antagonists will reveal themselves as Ellerete, an alchemist who is part of the Passage of the Unbound, and Kokonowa, a master of mammets and her helping hand. Unfortunately, they will escape. Return to Limsa Lominsa and speak to Loashkana (X: 8.9, Y: 13.4) to finish the quest.

How To Complete The Quest 'Living Among The Deadly'

ff14 living among the deadly

The quest "Living Among the Deadly" will be available once you level up enough to reach level 94 and can be picked up with Loashkana (X: 8.9, Y: 13.4), in the same place where the previous quest started and ended. She will be feeling a little down after the encounter with Ellerete and Kokonowa but won't want to stay idle and will suggest that you two go to the Moraby Drydocks. Teleport there, then speak to Loashkana (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6) again.

ff14 shipwright brother location

She will be talking to a shipwright who needs help to find his brother. You will find him near some boxes, the NPC being called Red-headed Youth (X: 23.6, Y: 33.8). After interacting with him and watching a cutscene, go back to the High-strung Shipwright (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6), then talk to Loashkana in the same place. Another cutscene will play, and following that, you must go back to Limsa Lominsa and speak with Loashkana again to finish the quest. She will be in the same place where the quest started.

How To Complete The Quest 'Taste Of A Toxin Paradise'

ff14 taste of a toxin paradise

Upon reaching level 96, the next healer role quest will be available. It's called "Taste of a Toxin Paradise", and it starts with Loashkana (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6) in Limsa Lominsa, same as with the other quests. This time she has a promising lead, suggesting Ellerete and Kokonowa were headed to Upper La Noscea, with Wyssulm and Zerig currently tracking their movements.

Go to Aleport and speak with Loashkana (X: 26.8, Y: 26.7) south of the aetheryte. The adventurers will come back with news, and after watching the cutscene, you must teleport to Camp Bronze Lake, then go west and talk to Loashkana again. There will be another cutscene and this time you must help the people affected by Ellerete's toxins. Cast Esuna on the Hurting Helper (X: 30.5, Y: 23.5), Befuddled Bather (X: 30.2, Y: 24.2), and Laugh-weary Lalafell (X: 29.7, Y: 23.7), then head north to interact with Loashkana (X: 29.8, Y: 22.3) to trigger another cutscene. The last step will be to teleport to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks and talk to Loashkana (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6) one more time, in the same place where you picked up the quest.

How To Complete The Quest 'Downed By The River'

ff14 downed by the river

The level 98 quest "Downed by the River" also starts with Loashkana (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6) in Limsa Lominsa. After you pick up the quest, teleport to Costa del Sol and head east to interact with Loashkana (X: 32.8, Y: 30.4) again. You will then go to Wineport and head south to Raincatcher Gully, where your destination (X: 17.0, Y: 26.8) will be. Interact with it and a couple of mammets will show up - you will need to defeat them and every other mammet that will appear after.

Go north to meet Loashkana (X: 19.4, Y: 25.8) by the river and deliver the survey notes. Speak to her again after a cutscene, then return to Costa del Sol. She will be in the same place where you spoke to her when first arriving there. Teleport to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks after the cutscene, and go back to where you picked up the quest to interact with Loashkana and complete it.

How To Complete The Quest 'An Antidote For Anarchy'

ff14 an antidote for anarchy

The final healer role quest will be available at level 100. Speak to Loashkana (X: 25.7, Y: 34.6) in Limsa Lominsa, same as with all the previous quests. You will be informed that Ellerete and Kokonowa have been spotted in Eastern La Noscea, so teleport to Wineport, then head to the entrance to the Brayflox's Longstop dungeon (X: 14.7, Y: 24.6), where Loashkana will be waiting. Speak to her, then speak to her again to initiate the solo duty "An Antidote for Anarchy".

You will have to face Ellerete Venomheart in battle, but she is far from being one of the most memorable bosses in FF14. Loashkana will fight alongside you and tell you to focus on the healing - but much like with other duties, there will be moments where you can (and should) use your damage skills, as even healers are included in the combat job category. Ellerete will drink Tricky Tonics to increase her damage and decrease her vulnerabilities, but that is simply part of the battle. Remember to cast Esuna to cure yourself and Loashkana when Ellerete gives you the Poison, Bleeding, or HP Recovery Down debuffs.

Kokonowa will eventually intervene, sending his mammets to shield Ellerete. Target them with your attacks to break the shield, and be careful - they will explode. At this point, Ellerete won't be doing very well, and will also be hit by the exploding mammets. She will drink several tonics in sequence, but that will only make her feel ill. When she gives you the Delusions status, simply stand behind the Ellerete with the glowing pink aura to avoid her attacks.

Kokonowa will intervene again, summoning multiple malfunctioning mammets. They will spread throughout the arena, but all you have to do is pay attention to where the first one stopped. It's a simple mechanic to deal with: stand in the middle and, once the first one explodes, go to the area where it was. Continue healing Loashkana and attacking Ellerete until she summons the Suffocating Cloud. Loashkana will deal with it, but while she casts Obsidian Zenith, you must heal her. Continue hitting Ellerete after, and she will drink more tonics - but this time, they will have the opposite effect, giving her several debuffs. Finish her off to complete the solo duty.

Ellerete and Kokonowa will try to escape, but in her confusion, she will use a real bomb instead of a smoked one. The pair will be sent flying - or blasting off, as Team Rocket would say - but the Heartsting will be left behind. After the duty and the following cutscene end, talk to Loashkana again near Brayflox's Longstop. She will want to say goodbye to the adventurers who helped you before returning to Tural, now that her mission is complete. Go to Aleport and talk to Wyssulm (X: 26.8, Y: 26.7), then teleport to Tuliyollal.

ff14 healer role quest complete

Use the aethernet to The For'ard Cabins or the Bayside Bevy Marketplace to get to Xbalyav Ty'e - the bar where all this started. Nyipine (X: 12.0, Y: 15.0), the NPC that initiated the healer role quests, will be in the same place where you originally found him inside the tavern. Talking to him you will complete all of Dawntrail's healer role quests and earn the achievement "A Hearsting's a Heavy Burden".
