Final Fantasy 14 often expands its catalog of unlockable content. This includes activities such as optional dungeons, but also interesting mounts or minions, which many players seek to collect. Even those who don't will sometimes find very rare or interesting mount options that have unique, fun, and interesting designs.

One of those is the Spectral Statice mount. Instead of riding a different type of creature, this mount has players being carried by a faerie. Unlocking it requires a few steps, as well as for the player to adventure through one of Final Fantasy 14's variant dungeons. Here you'll learn exactly what is necessary to get the Spectral Statice mount in FF14.

How To Unlock The Spectral Statice Mount

ff14 spectral statice mount

The Spectral Statice mount might serve as an incentive for players to explore new content to the fullest. In this case, it involves one of the variant dungeons added to Final Fantasy 14 during the Endwalker expansion. While they can be interesting on their own, each dungeon offers interesting rewards. These can include unique mounts that players can unlock after meeting specific criteria, which is precisely the case for the Spectral Statice mount.

Unlocking Aloalo Island

To get this mount, you'll need to venture to Aloalo Island. To unlock the specific dungeon, it is necessary to complete a quest that will allow you to unlock every variant dungeon separately. This quest, "An Odd Job," is a level 90 quest that completes itself when the player picks it up. Find it by speaking to the NPC Osmon (X: 12, Y: 13.4) in Old Sharlayan, and it will unlock variant and criterion dungeons.

This quest will only be available once the level 90 MSQ "Endwalker" has been completed.

After that, you'll need to reach level 90 MSQ "A Satrap's Duty," as it is one of the requirements to unlock Aloalo Island. Once this quest and "An Odd Job" are both completed, you can pick up the level 90 quest "Stranger from Paradise" with the NPC Shallow Moor (X: 12.0, Y: 13.3). After the quest is initiated, it will direct you to follow a few steps, then will make Aloalo Island available. You must complete this dungeon to finish the quest.

The Aloalo Island Dungeon can be found in the V&C Dungeon Finder, accessed through the Duty menu.

Variant dungeons can be played solo or in groups of up to four players, and there are no job restrictions. The level of difficulty is the same as presented in the game's story mode, adjusted to the number of players. The concept of these dungeons is that players can explore different paths, depending on their actions and random events. This can even lead to bosses using different mechanics during a fight, on top of changing the route itself.

Completing some of the paths will add lore excerpts to the V&C Dungeon Finder. These can have hints to unlock other entries, find secret bosses, and solve puzzles, on top of telling some more of the story related to that dungeon. There are twelve entries for each variant dungeon, which is essential to the Spectral Statice mount. You'll need to unlock all twelve excerpts of Aloalo Island to unlock the mount.

Aloalo Conservation Record 4: A Noxious Gift

  • Follow the left path.
  • When Matsya asks to stop and fish, tell him to fish to his heart's content.

  • When the faerie offers to help you, accept her help.

In the chamber with the three statues, things will get a little more complex, as this path requires a puzzle of sorts. You'll need to perform the rituals described in the Conservation Records in front of each of the three statues, in any order you prefer.

Standing in front of the Turtle statue:

  • With chat in Say mode, type: O wayfarer of land and sea, hear me.
  • After receiving the buff, do two counterclockwise laps around the statues.
  • Standing in front of the Turtle statue, use the /bow emote.

Standing in front of the Whale statue:

  • With chat in Say mode, type: O messenger from beyond the horizon, hear me.
  • After receiving the buff, do one clockwise lap around the statues, then do one counterclockwise lap around them.
  • Standing in front of the Whale statue, use the /dance emote.

Standing in front of the Sparrow statue:

  • With chat in Say mode, type: O dancer of the skies, hear me.
  • After receiving the buff, use the /blowkiss emote.
  • Circle once clockwise around the statues.
  • Standing in front of the Sparrow statue, use the /dance emote.

The statues will glow when the ritual starts, as well as a blue circle in front of the statue, which is where each lap will begin and end. Only the player with the buff can complete the ritual. If you fail or take too long, you can start again by standing in front of the statue and saying the appropriate line. Don't forget to add the commas and periods in each phrase.

After the three rituals are completed, a new path will open in the center of the room. Follow Matsya into it to proceed.

  • Defeat the monsters on the foggy path, and take out Whasbyrm.
  • After he leaves, grab the sack he drops.
  • Place the sparrow statue on the first pedestal.
  • Place the whale statue on the second pedestal.
  • Place the turtle statue on the third pedestal.
  • Continue the path to defeat the secret boss.
