Veterans of the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 know that few things serve as a better status symbol than a rare mount. Fashion and cosmetics of all kinds are important to players, but the first thing that fans will notice about one another is the mount they choose to ride. That's one major reason why players flock to new content when a mount is promised as a possible reward. In Patch 5.55 of Final Fantasy 14, the Deinonychus is one of the new mounts that players will strive for. This guide will help adventurers tame the beast and prove themselves to be a cut above the rest.
The Deinonychus mount will be added to the player's collection upon using the Deinonychus Horn. The horn is a tradable item, meaning it can be searched for and purchased on the player-run Market Board. However, a rare mount such as this is a precious and highly coveted item. Only the richest players who have millions upon millions of gil will be able to obtain the mount in this way. Most players will opt to get their hands dirty and earn the mount themselves.
How to Get Deinonychus Mount in Final Fantasy 14
The Deinonychus Horn is a rare random drop from the Dalriada, a large-scale raid within Zadnor. Fans who have kept up with the Save the Queen questline and completed all story quests within the Bozjan Southern Front will be able to access Zadnor. Towards the end of the questline within Zadnor, the time will come to raid the Dalriada. A treasure chest that appears upon clearing the raid will potentially yield the Deinonychus Horn, among other valuable rewards. As with many of the rarest mounts, players should not be surprised if it takes many persistent attempts to actually get the Deinonychus Horn to drop.
Adventurers who have made their way to Zadnor after battling through the Bozjan Southern Front will be very familiar with the process of grinding for mettle. This process will need to be repeated again in Zadnor in order to rank up enough to access the Dalriada. Over the course of the grind, players will surely obtain many Zadnor Lockboxes and potentially receive rare rewards including the Both Ways hairstyle. Overall, the number of valuable rewards within Zadnor makes it well worth the while.
While Zadnor and the Dalriada make up the bulk of new content in Patch 5.55, there are other activities in Final Fantasy 14 that will catch a player's attention. The latest patch brings the Shadowbringers saga to a definite close, ushering in the upcoming Endwalker expansion. And for those who fancy the more whimsical side of the game, the newly-added electric guitar item is a must-have. With the sheer amount of content and activities that have become available recently, the 6-month wait for the next expansion is a welcome reprieve for players who feel the need to catch up and grind for new items.
Final Fantasy 14 is available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
