Final Fantasy 14 is an MMORPG that offers its players a wide variety of rewards across the wide catalog of available content accrued from its decade-long service, but the most popular activity by far is challenging iconic bosses from the prolific franchise's storied history. To congratulate players that successfully defeat these encounters on the highest difficulty, the game awards prestigious mounts with special effects that set them apart from their more ordinary counterparts, whether that's a unique particle effect, multi-seat capabilities, or special transformations between land, sky, and sea.

The Round Lanner is one example of a special mount dropped for defeating one of Final Fantasy 14's most infamous trials from the Heavensward expansion. However, players not normally engaged in taking on the game's most difficult encounters can rest easily. With multiple major expansions having released since 2015, player power has drastically increased, allowing players of all skill levels to easily obtain the once exclusive mount for themselves.

The Ufiti mount is a reward normally given to crafters and gatherers, but players are able to obtain it without doing either.

How to Get the Round Lanner Mount

The Round Lanner Whistle is a rare drop that can be earned by defeating King Thordan in the trial "The Minstrel's Ballad: Thordan's Reign". To access the fight, players will need to have completed the level 60 Main Scenario Quest "Heavensward" before gaining access to the sidequest "Thordan's Reign" in Mor Dhona (X:22, Y:9).

The extreme version of the fight with Thordan is significantly more difficult than the original encounter in "The Singularity Reactor" trial, but players that have leveled far above the duty's level 60 requirement can leverage their extra stats to make quick work of the boss. By selecting the "Undersized Party" option in the Duty Finder settings, accessed by clicking the cog icon in the top left corner of the Duty Finder, players can disable the automatic level sync feature and tackle Thordan with their unbridled strength. While a max leveled character is always best, a good rule of thumb to be sure players have a strong chance at defeating unsynced encounters is to be at least two expansions beyond the selected duty. In the case of King Thordan Extreme, the recommended item level for this strategy is 530, although skilled players familiar with the fight may be able to find success with even less.

Players unable or unwilling to take their chances with the random drop from King Thordan may be in luck whenever a Moogle Treasure Trove comes around. This common series of events allows players to obtain rewards that are normally only accessible through side content like extreme trials, giving players Moogle Tomestones for completing a variety of challenges, which can then be exchanged for various items from across the game. The Rounder Lanner Whistle isn't guaranteed to be available from every Moogle Treasure Trove event, so players will have to double-check for themselves exactly which rewards are provided, but having been part of three Moogle Treasure Trove at the time of writing, players' chances are good that the Round Lanner will become available sooner or later.
