On November 11, Final Fantasy 14 released Patch 7.38 on all supported platforms, which brought some bug fixes and removed loot restrictions for the Arcadion AAC Cruiserweight Tier (Savage) raids. Final Fantasy 14 players can also collect a new poster for their virtual homes, featuring key art from Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, in Patch 7.38.

The 7.38 content update arrives amid a rough time for Final Fantasy 14. Since November 3, Final Fantasy 14 has been the target of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on its North American servers, as players on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis data centers have experienced disconnections from the game without warning. Though the outages have been brief, Final Fantasy 14 players have reported lost progress on the Pilgrim's Traverse deep dungeon and similar activities due to the frequency of the DDoS attacks. Other servers in Europe, Japan, and Oceania have been unaffected by these DDoS attacks so far.

Despite the ongoing DDoS attacks on the North American data centers, Final Fantasy 14 has released a small content patch for players to download. Final Fantasy 14's 7.38 update has removed the weekly limit on loot from the AAC Cruiserweight Tier (Savage) raid series, which will allow raid teams to farm as much gear and items from the current Arcadion raid tier as they wish. Players may also skip across the AAC Cruiserweight Tier without having to clear each fight in sequence. This includes players skipping the tier to face Howling Blade, the AAC Cruiserweight Champion. Additionally, players looking to upgrade a Historia weapon will have a new method of doing so, as one Ordelle Coin and one Montiont Coin can now be exchanged together for an Evercharged Ester.

The Ordelle and Montiont Coins can be obtained by clearing the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raids, making the Evercharged Ester upgrade item accessible to players who don't participate in Savage raid content. Additionally, a new housing item is available for players to collect in Patch 7.38, as the Legends of Ivalice poster can now drop from loot chests in the Return to Ivalice alliance raids. The poster features key art from Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, which was largely developed by Creative Studio 3.

Some bugs that affected features like Pilgrim's Traverse and Cosmic Exploration were addressed with the November 11 update. Final Fantasy 14's 7.38 content patch will be the only update released in November, as Square Enix turns its attention to the December 16 launch of Patch 7.4, Into the Mist.
