Summary
- Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 introduced the epilogue to the Dawntrail Role Quest series.
- One of the quest's NPCs, Rral Majun, erroneously has Japanese text on the English client.
- The translation error only occurs during specific parts of the Dawntrail Role Quest finale.
- Square Enix stated a fix for the translation mistake would be quickly deployed.
Shortly after Final Fantasy 14 released Patch 7.16 on live servers, players quickly took to social media to share a translation error discovered after speaking to an NPC while undertaking the Dawntrail Role Quest series finale. Square Enix stated that the Final Fantasy 14 translation error would be fixed in the coming days via a client-side update.
Although Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 was a small content update, diligent players were given new content to consume. After completing the Dawntrail Role Quest chains for each combat role, such as the Healer Role Quests, Final Fantasy 14 players now have the option to undertake a four-part finale quest chain that will grant a new emote and orchestrion roll. Players can speak to Rrah Majun in Tuliyollal to start the "Picking Up the Torch" quest. Patch 7.16 also brought PVP Job balance updates, a new Crystalline Conflict ranking season, and a Clouddark Demimateria exchange option in Solution Nine.
Final Fantasy 14 Stops Automatic Housing Demolition Shortly After Restarting It
Shortly after restarting automatic housing demolitions on some data centers, Final Fantasy 14 pauses them and provides a reason for its decision.
Depending on the progress made in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16's content, players may encounter a noticeable error when speaking to Rrah Majun. According to a Lodestone post by Square Enix, players who have progressed past the "Enforcing Freedom" quest of the Dawntrail Role Quest epilogue may see Japanese text rather than English dialogue when talking to Rrah Majun and asking her how things are. This translator error is only present in the English client of Final Fantasy 14. Ergo, the French, German, and Japanese clients are unaffected by this error. Square Enix stated that addressing the issue will require modifying some client-side data and that a hotfix is being worked on. Square Enix clarified that the hotfix should be released within the coming days. On Twitter, Aitaikimochi translated Rrah Majun's Japanese dialogue, which stated that the Passage of the Unbound's second-rank members had been captured alongside their leader and that peace had been restored.
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Role Quest Finale Has Japanese Text on the English Client
While the translation lapse is a relatively minor error, this is far from the first time Final Fantasy 14 has dealt with bugs. Since the game's early days, Final Fantasy 14 player avatars who share the names of specific bosses, such as Wicked Thunder, will trigger a bug in the game's combat log that attributes any damage done by the boss as damage done to themselves instead.
Though Final Fantasy 14 has two major patches planned throughout 2025, several minor updates will be used to fix any outstanding issues as needed. Only time will tell when a hotfix for the latest translation error will be deployed.
