During Letter From the Producer LIVE Part 87, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida gave players the first glimpses of Patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow. The upcoming Final Fantasy 14 patch will be the climax of Dawntrail's main story and will include some callbacks to two past Final Fantasy franchise entries.

Yoshida kicked off the 87th Live Letter by addressing Final Fantasy 14 player feedback about the Occult Crescent and Cosmic Exploration features. Yoshida stated that the next Forked Tower raid planned to arrive during the Patch 7.5 series will have Normal and Savage difficulties, and that players can queue into the Occult Crescent as a 48-player premade alliance starting in Patch 7.3. Other changes to Cosmic Exploration will include mount access and a retainer bell for players to utilize. Yoshida also apologized for what he deemed a drop-off in quality assurance from the Final Fantasy 14 development team, and cited recent hotfixes and server maintenance as problems.

The Cardinal Sins of Final Fantasy 14 Explained

There's an unspoken code to succeed at Final Fantasy 14, and deviating from the path can lead to committing some of the game's cardinal sins.

Although Patch 7.25 contained different forms of content for Final Fantasy 14 players to enjoy, the next update will serve as a climactic backdrop to Dawntrail. Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, will go live in early August. Patch 7.3 will include a new main story dungeon, The Meso Terminal, and a trial battle against a mysterious foe. Yoshida also confirmed that Patch 7.3 will serve as the climax of Dawntrail' s main story arc. A new allied society quest line will focus on the gigantic Yok Huy of Urqopacha, and will be available for Crafters as a way to level up from 90 to 100. Additional side quests like the next Hildibrand and Phantom Relic Weapon chapters will be added weeks after Patch 7.3 is released.

Final Fantasy 14 Teases What's to Come in Patch 7.3

  • Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, will be the climax of Dawntrail's main story.
  • The 7.3 update will include a new main story dungeon and a trial against an unrevealed opponent.
  • The next Vana'diel alliance raid will be San d'Oria: The Second Walk, as players face Kam'lanaut and other foes.
  • Crafters will have new allied society quests courtesy of the Yok Huy.

The next chapter of the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raid series will be added in Patch 7.3. Titled San d'Oria: The Second Walk, the next Alliance Raid will allow 24 players to face bosses from Final Fantasy 11's story, with the villainous Kam'launaut being teased as a potential foe for players to take down. Other combat-focused activities like The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal) trial, the Vault Oneiron treasure dungeon, and a new Deep Dungeon called Pilgrim's Traverse will be included in Patch 7.3 and subsequent updates.

With callbacks to Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy 11, the 7.3 update may be one of the largest Final Fantasy 14 patches so far. It remains to be seen how players will react to the final chapter of Dawntrail's story, and what lies ahead for the popular MMO.
